Thanks Martin. Looks like it was made for the CL and now I'm going to have to get one myself!

The previous owner of this camera was nice enough to provide these images of the camera before I purchased it.

Well, after a week of shooting the M3 on an assignment, I noticed a piece of vulcanite was lifting by the lens mount. ( See photo of beer and light meter in pocket ).

So good ol' resourceful me took out some crazy glue and a toothpick hoping to ease the corner up and dab in place. When I lifted the piece up gently, it snapped clean to the preview lever, DOH!!!

So I put the glue on it in three places and thought, easy-peasy, I'll just stick back on. Wrong...it crumbled. Sooo, I ordered a Cameraleather.com Granite Kid Skin kit.......

....Well, I got it today, and it is not really the marbled look I thought I was going to get, but after careful consideration, I had the old vulcanite off in about 20 minutes. In another hour, between razor blades, q-tips and nail polish remover and a brillo pad, the camera was totally devoid of old adhesive.

The installation went good overall. The back plate was a bit larger than the opening so i had to trim the leather down a bit so the adhesive made a bit of a mess.

On the front, the four screw holes were a tiny bit elongated and did not fit tightly around the screws, but close enough.

I really like the all chrome look of the grey leather, kind of different. Now I need that nice chrome Summicron ( hint, hint ). Kind of looks like Leica's version of the Hasselblad "HDC" moon camera...:-)

The only problem now is when I cleaned up the little bit of adhesive around some of the seams, the rubbing alcohol got into the leather and discolored it a bit. So I am not really sure how to clean it up.

Overall, I had a good time putting the new leather on and I am happy with the way it turned out......it sure is "My" camera now, LOL!!

I agree. Black lenses just don't look right on that camera. And i am willing to help you out and trade my nice collapsible summicron for that black ugly summilux of yours.
:)

Why do you need goggles (eyes?) on a 50mm when you put it on a m3?
And in general, what's the idea behind these "goggled" lenses? I thought it's to help using wide lenses with bodies not having the appropiate framelines...but seems i was wrong.

It's a 50mm Dual range, the goggle is used for close focus only. when it's used in normal focus range(1m+), the goggle can be removed.

Here's my recently skinned M3. Awaiting its new leather from Morgan Sparks. I had decided to repaint the back door, so I carefully sanded away the paint, but I liked the way the metal looked underneath, so I sanded it a bit more and just finished it off with an acrylic. We'll see how it looks with the new cover. Figure I can always paint it later if I want.

WOW~~~ abenner, it's so sexy!!! ahaha

No. It's not only a matter a frame selected: The googled Summaron needs the goggles to focus correctly.

It was bought that way and I like it. Although original black paint M2 is more precious but is a bit too expensive.

Shot with Kodak Tri-X 400, Tmax dev, toned
