My M3 just came back from Solms, so I am ready for the next 50 years of shooting. It is literally like brand new.:D

nice, what did they do to it? been wondering what can Leica do to old M3 finder, simply upgrade to modern MP finder?

Can we ask how much did all these cost? Also, how long did you wait?

kshapero 05-17-2012 06:50

709 EUR
4 weeks

Steinberg2010 05-17-2012 06:53

Out of curiosity, how does that compare to the amount of work done in a CLA by CRR Luton, Youxin Ye, DAG etc?

thanks. sounds like RF in your M3 was not very bad shape to begin with, and clean & adjust was enough. been wondering if framelines or patch are badly worn out, can they still revive those as new, without replacing entire thing.

At first glance, that hurt. But then you think that you are basically getting in return a new (for all intents) M3, and it'll be good for decades. It's really quite a testament to the old M's.

Exactly, name me anything (besides an M3) that the manufacturer will take back and make it "brand new".

Now if they could just squeeze a meter into the M3. Heresy, I know!

Vobluda 05-17-2012 08:46

I cant agree that the camera will be good for decades as the curtains were not exchanged.. And while changing curtains both shutter and rf are coming out so that they have to be adjusted again..

In 2062 my M3 will be still being used and your other camera won't. Of course I will not be here to prove it, unless.......

Rob--some beautiful cameras you have there!
And--some really nice quartersawn oak in that tabletop.
How old is the table?
