No, I just chose the lowest cost covering knowing it would come off immediately in favor of Aki Asahi's real leather.

Good (better) choice. The GripTac is nice but I found out the hard way that it is not very suitable for a Leica M. It is less thick than vulcanite, which is part of the light baffling of the bottom plate with an M camera (or a Barnack).

I had a GripTac covered M3 and it regularly had light leaks along the bottom plate since the GripTac wasn't thick enough to seal the light out.

ASPH lenses are overrated, I much prefer the Mandler designs that came before them. I still have single 24, 35, 50 and 75 in ASPH versions but I've sold off all my others.

I see your point but have not experienced this on my MP. Maybe the base is a bit tighter on the newer cameras? My MP with the Griptac is 10 years old now though.

Anybody has a photo of this very camera?

I love this look! Please fill us in about the BP rigid Summicron - is it original 70's issue or a late special version … ?

That black film counter drives me crazy - sooooooo beautiful!

Looks like black chrome. Does leica make em in balck paint?

digitalintrigue 05-04-2012 19:14

No, they don't. Shutter button collar is black chrome also.

Black frame counter is from M6 Millenium.

More pics here, prior to the frame counter retrofit:

Nice set. I like my Tanar very much. Seems we need a Tanar picture thread... :)

robbeiflex 05-05-2012 07:59

:) I just got my M6 back from CLA and a few modifications to make it into a Black Dot, Anti-Panda, with M3-style advance and Grip-Tac:

The green wrist strap is from Robert (a.k.a. rlouzan) here at RFF and I am very happy with it, it's very comfortable and convenient.

Cheers,
Rob

Finally someone took a decent picture of my M4. Summaron 35 with beat up lens hood always on. That's my girlfriend back there with the fe2.

buzzardkid 05-06-2012 12:46

^ FE2, camo jacket, nail polish and a can of lager?

Must be a keeper! :)

Nice shot of the M4 & Summaron, too!

Akiva, the camera, SA and finder all look great, but I've got to say that those feet in flip flops make this a fun image. What's the story?
