I don't really like soft releases but the M6 is new to me, and I feel the release point of the shutter release is too low compared to my previous experiences with non-metered M's. The added extension this relase attachment provides the illusion of a "higher" release point.

I am really looking for a "release extension" of the same diameter as the release button. I have seen these a couple of times on used cameras on display in the Tokyo shops, but never seen them for sale individually.

I have a Canadian 35 lux it has the smoothest focus and most robust feel of any lens I've had, not very keen on the hood/filter arrangement though! Sublime lens for film!

M2 and M4 with Leicavits (original and new versions)

3 Attachment(s)
HAd my BP M4 setup by Sherry a few years ago to accept the new Leivcavit MP. Three weeks ago I grabbed a great deal form Adorama - this M2 with an original Vit-MP. I had to replace the vulcanite and still need to do a CLA (viewfinder is grungy) - but it works great. I like having both versions together to use (BTW they both feel nearly the same, although the original does have a different sound).

How 'bout a video of my M2?

Nice M2 Mathomas. What camera did you use to video it?

Thanks. It was shot with a Leica DLUX-4. I hope it is useful to people.

shade Leica 12466 ?
Sure it is available if you are willing to spend about 370 Euro! As I heard, it is limited but don't know how many were built

I think, you mean Shade and his straps in this post: http://www.rangefinderforum.com/foru...postcount=6267

I use standard Leica straps with a secret ingredient ;)

At some point, I bought every Leica standard strap, I could get my hands on and ended up with more than a dozen or so.
As a standard, I remove the awful rubber pad and wash the strap a few times with hair shampoo.

That makes them really soft to the touch and very comfortable.
I prefer the standard straps without rubber for their slim fit and the ingenious quick release system, making switching straps/ wrist straps quick.

I've been Leica-less since a short fling with an M3 and M6 TTL several years ago. That is until earlier this week

vintage -> modern style

Wow ... look at the way that Nikon is snuggling up to the M7!

Happy just to be close to such perfection I guess.

Actually this photo shows how the Leica design marched on to perfection over the 50's barock camera design.

I like the very clean and simple solutions, Leica picked with the M - not one edge or radius too much - just perfect.

Don't get me wrong, the Nikon is a beauty, but the Leica M is just the nicer camera (although black chrome is not exactly a beauty option, but rather a practical one).

OlliL 10-14-2011 10:58

I absolutely agree with you, saying that the Leica design is practically superior and it's not "worse", than the design of the Nikon.

But for me and that's just my opinion, in terms of looks, I won't prefer it, in this particular comparison. Just for the looks, I also prefer a IIIg over the M3, but maybe I'm just weird ;)

Was fortunate enough to shoot my M9-P/LHSA 50 Lux ASPH on Mr. Hefner's chess table with some of his personal magazines.

Yes, I was in Lemonsha today also and I think I saw these soft releases there. They are 10mm in diametre and cost 1100 yen.

It is hugh that's for sure. Heavier than a Noctilux. I'm just learning how to shoot with it. Seems low contrast and little soft. Also hard to accurately focus. Once I get the hang of it I'll post some.

Looking forward to that ;-) Very curious on the Summarex.

My god, that Nikon is drool worthy.

M3/Nokton 35 combo by celluloidpropaganda, on Flickr

I'm so jealous of people with well-lit homes. The landlords here replaced all the ceiling fans with ones that take the little halogen bulbs - great for mood lighting and energy savings, terrible for taking pictures of your M3 while you watch HBO.

riceman 10-17-2011 20:57

At the moment here in Nicaragua my two best friends (excepting my girlfriend ;) )

Since I have them, I stopped thinking about new gear.
(Maybe a Rolleiflex after finishing my project here...)

PatrickONeill 10-19-2011 05:27

can you tell I'm a photo student? :P

M2 + summilux (on loan from the photo department. :D), M6 classic + 35mm cron, 5D classic + 50 ƒ1.8 Mk1 and Oly ∞ stylus. Plus camera phone :P

why on earth did I need to carry all of these cameras at the same time during class? I think there is something wrong with me, but fellow RFF'ers woudn't think so. you are all a bunch of enablers anyway. =p
