Did you do the Jade job yourself? or send it off to Morgan? I've done 3 Pentax SLRs w/textured leather, but wonder about de-Vulcanizing a Leica, then the intricate dodge & weave with all the screw heads, etc.

Looks good - I have an M4 wanting Griptac and another for whatever.

M4 = Best looking M.

End of conversation.

It was an incredibly easy job to recover it, surprisingly!

I actually found removing the residual glues from the body to be more time consuming / annoying. The cover was a 15-20 minute job in the end - I used the "wet" method outlined on Morgan's site (http://www.cameraleather.com/support/wet_method.htm).

No issues with the cover sticking to screws / levers due to the alcohol hand sanitizer and the cover was perfectly cut to the correct size, so was no problem at all.

That indeed is a steal - congratulations!
A 35mm is going to work, but will be tight - find a nice 50mm to start with this beautiful camera ;-)

Looking for a 50 now, I do have a russian 50 on my iiif so if i get an adapter then I shall be shooting soon!

I have also noticed that 35's are ALOT cheaper than 50s of the same brand.. Well.. mostly voigtlander

If the Russian 50mm works nicely on the IIIf, it should be good on the M6 as well.
Get the adapter and go from there. Try the 35mm frame preview with the 0.85 viewfinder, if you really like this M6 to shoot 35mm.

I don't like 35mm much on my 0.85x finder, but use that body for 50 and 90mm.

Normally, 35mm of same speed and vintage go more expensive than 50mm (exceptions of course are different popularities for different vintage samples of certain lenses).
I don't know about Voigtlander pricing though. Be aware, that there are differences in widest aperture and lens design.
A slower single coated lens will most likely have a higher price than a fast, multicoated aspherical lens, no matter, which is a 35 or 50 of them.

Thanks. The VCII is great. I had to get new batteries for it the other day, I think it's because I handled the old ones and you aren't meant to touch them as it takes the charge from the cell. Either that or they were quite old (bought the meter second hand with the batteries in it)

Cheers

I wear glasses and had no problem shooting 35mm lenses on a 0.85 VF.

Left eye shooter, no glasses, M7 0.85 − 35mm works beautifully, but you won't have the perfect match of size of out of frame areas, the 35 gives you on a 0.72.

For me, the 35mm is perfect on a 0.72 viewfinder.

As I wrote … it's tight ;)

Duncan - great chrome collection!

Couldn't stay away from film. Got this a couple weeks back, replaced the advance lever with an MP one. I would sort of like to rub the white paint out of the logos, but I suspect it won't just flake out as on the M8. Maybe I'll tape it. Too many people in my town know what a Leica is and I always end up having conversations about my camera instead of taking pictures.

The 'Cron I bought to use on the M9 but of course it is perfectly matched to this camera. I didn't know what to expect in terms of build quality/feel, but this M feels even better than my M2 did. Brass top plate. I like the sound and feel of the steel gears.

The VC Meter II seems custom made for this camera.
