Which one do you deem the best M adapter for the Fujis? Original Fujifilm or Kipon or.... There are lots around?

Then again, for my LTM lenses, should I use a dedicated second LTM to X adapter or just put an M39 / M adapter ring on those lenses and use the 'normal' adapter?

For the moment I have a Quenox adapter that does it's job, but not much more. It seems a little bit wobbly, and if you put on the lenses with just a bit too much force, it overshoots the locking position... Not good!

How many hobbies can one man have? At least this many apparently. So, there you have it. I lament what I and others like me could never admit to their wives for fear of never acquiring more expensive junk again :D

I can't stand the macro button on my GR. There's nothing more frustrating than framing a picture, pressing the shutter, and then having the lens go zoop-zoop-zoop-zoop back and forth until it finally gives up on locking focus - all because I accidentally bumped a button that rests very near to the tip of my thumb..

(While I'm at it I might as well complain about the Exposure Compensation paddle. In normal shooting thumb rests just under the "-" section, and I've inadvertently shot a frame or two at -4.0 EV because of this.)

Is there any way to disable these button?s The manual doesn't say, so I really don't think so, but perhaps somebody somewhere has a suggestion. I'd really appreciate it!

Hi all i just ordered a few items including an Olympus 24/2 from KEH last weekend but today it arrived with everything except the Oly 24/2 being a Nikkor 20/3.5:(

Strange thing is that the bag is labeled as "Olympus 24/2"

I felt that it's quite screwed coz there's no way proving that i didn't receive the Oly 24/2... Fortunately after i called them, they told me to send back and pay the difference to get another slightly more expensive Oly 24/2 in their stock.

So i am wondering, does anyone here has the experience of doing this type of cross-border exchange? Coz i already paid quite some COD for the "Nikkor Olympus 24/2", and makes no sense to pay tax again. Should I give them some shipping instruction etc? Thanks in advance!

The last one I went to was by Todd Papageorge a couple of months ago (may not technically count as he was talking about someone else). A lot of schools and museums are now posting videos of these events on the web which is great. Here is a good one I missed even though it was in my area.
Using Kodak Ektra Lenses with Digital

:):bang::)I have been very happy in my successful effort at resurrecting vintage Kodak Ektra lenses for use in the digital photography age. I was able to have an English company make adapters to fit my Ektra lenses on my Sony NEX digital camera body. Focussing works at all distances, from near to infinity. I am also able to use the close focussing range in my 35mm and 50mm lenses without any difficulty. Each custom-made adapter has a multi-start thread mount with two localising gaps to accept the somewhat complicated Kodak Ektra lens mount. This part is joined to a ready-made Sony NEX lens mount. Only the NEX mount has a mouth opening wide enough to accept the Ektar 35mm f3.3 lens. With a magnification factor of only 1.5 with these Ektar lenses, the results have been very good with my 35mm, 50mm, 90mm, and 135mm lenses. It is hard to believe that the images I have obtained were carried out with American optics made 72 years ago. It has really been a pleasure to use these lenses, instead of having them languish untouched on a display shelf.

Okay, so I should have bought a Nikon Super Coolscan 9000ED back when they were still current production and new at $1800. I thought it was too expensive then.

But I didn't, and lack of a good 120 format film scanner is one of the things that pushed me to drop shooting film entirely in 2004. By that time, quality 5 and 6 Mpixel DSLRs were inexpensive enough and produced good enough results that shooting 6x6 film just became too onerous for what I needed to do at the time.

Well, seven years on and I found myself drawn back to 6x6 again, and a chance discussion in Dec 2012 led to my buying a practically unused Coolscan 9000 from a friend at a good price. I've added the ANR glass carrier to it, and a carrier adapter for Minox negatives. I've figured out how to get what I want out of it for 6x6 using VueScan. It works beautifully.

Over the weekend, my project was to scan about 90 more of my ancient slides spanning from early 1970s to middle 1990s. First time I used the five slide tray.

Just WoW! The 9000 is so easy to work with and produces such good results with these slides. Many are slightly damaged, poor exposures ... snapshots, really, of friends and family. The 9000 is even easier to work with than my Coolscan V, the light source is more diffuse and there's less dust and contrast problem. Image qualities are just wonderful. All of the delicious defects of film are readily apparent.

I'm so happy I went for the gusto and bought this scanner. It resuscitates film photography for me. :-)

There is a sticky thread on repairers of the Contax IIa and IIIa, but how about the prewar Contaxes? I have a II with collapsible Sonnar, vintage 1938, that I would love to get rejuvenated. It generally works well now, but the viewfinder really needs cleaning and the shutter could use a CLA (sometimes doesn't cap on winding in cold weather with the slow speeds, and the first curtain starts to release when using the selftimer). And the lens has oil on the aperture blades, though the glass is pretty clear.

Mike (ZeissFan) has a very helpful writeup on his site about working on the II, but I frankly think that level of work is above my competence.

I have a III that Oleg Khalyavin serviced prior to my buying it, and I think he does a pretty good job based on my and others' experience. But I know it's somewhat heretical to send a Jena Contax to Russia. Of course Henry Scherer is an option, but I'd like to use the camera while I'm still (relatively) young, and not spend twice for the repair what I paid for the camera and lens.

What are others' experience with Oleg and Henry -- and whom else would folks recommend?

today, i'd like to play with the 35/135 combination and throw the 200 in for good measure.
and then the fillm will be dropped off at the lab and dev/scanned...

Hi, I bought a very good condition 50mm summilux v2 (e43), again. I did some test shots and found the focus shift at f1.4 when the object is about 1m from the camera (m4), see the first picture. I focused on her face but apparently the focus is on the neck. It happens in several shots and I'm pretty sure the focus shifted.

I used to have another copy of this lens so I checked some old negatives. Bing! It did happen, see the second pic. But I didn't noticed since I seldom shoot portrait or at full aperture. I shot my first copy for about 20 rolls and thought it was perfect. Now it seems the problem grows in this lens and what should I do? Should I try some test at f2 or f2.8 to see if it is optimized at larger aperture? like the sonnar.
