Do you usually change lenses when shooting a roll with your FSU?

The reason I ask is because I would like to shoot with a Jupiter 12, I think 35mm would be better for me. However, as I will need to add and remove the turret viewfinder all the time because it won't fit in the case, I'm afraid I might just stick to the Jupiter 8. Hence I'd like to know if some of you still carry both (or other lenses) and change during a roll (and if there are no risks in doing so).

Cheers,

This morning while looking for an old "Bill Pierce" article in "The Digital Journalist" I needed to use their search engine to locate "Bill's stuff". Well, in finding the archive, I just began reading, I suggest you have a look!

This one was great. Here's the opening sentence: "The first time I shot a Broadway show's photo call, someone from the publicist's office said, "I don't know who the photographer is, but I think the assistant is W. Eugene Smith."
http://digitaljournalist.org/issue09...and-bolts.html

Here's the archive link:
http://digitaljournalist.org/archives.html

If it doesn't take you directly to "Bill's stuff", Just type "bill pierce" into the search box at the upper right of the page.

Thanks for some great stories and tips Bill.
Everything is nice and clean and lens and shutter are clean and free of oil. I'll load some B&W later today and go out and see what I can find to shoot. I'm really thrilled at how light and easy to focus it is compared to my 3.5F Rolleiflex which has left hand focus. I like the right hand focus much more.

My father used photography to record the lives of members of his family, that was his goal. He was VERY good at it. The photographic record he left me most decidedly does not "suck."

Many amateurs I see have decided not to shoot with any purpose in mind, but try to learn to make random "good" images in imitation of the great work of artists. What will mediocre photos, taken of strangers, mean to those in their families after they have gone?

"How come your dad didn't take any photos of you growing up?"
"Dad just liked taking photos of the backs of people's heads on the street."

I've been into photography since my childhood, and for the last two years, my wife and I have run a small part time wedding photography business. We decided this week to shut it down at the end of this season's weddings for a few different reasons. The primary is because my wife finds it stressful, especially on top of our day jobs and with a baby on the way. I found it fun and a good source of supplementary income. However, my wife and family comes first. So once we're done this October, we're selling our gear (a pair of D700s, several primes, a few flashes, etc).

The crux of my dilemma is as follows: I have been fortunate enough to make a bit of money from photography, and it is hard for me to make the transition back to photography purely for documenting my family, even though I truly believe that's far more important. Has anyone ever struggled with this transition? And for folks who do shoot primarily to cover family, how do you keep focused on family and not on the temptation to achieve some measure of recognition or profit, whether through blogging, shooting for money, and so on?

A friend of mine has recently inherited some glass plate negatives and isn't having much luck getting them printed or scanned locally to him.
He lives in Buffalo, NY USA.
He tells me that some local camera store--not a lab--quoted him $40 each for prints. No scans, just prints.

So, my question to y'all:
Does anyone have a good recommendation for a pro lab in or near Buffalo, NY that could possibly deal with these?

He is not keen on the idea of mailing the plates to a lab and would like to find someone local.

Thanks, every one!
