Not long ago thanks to my blog article I have received 4 rolls of ORWO that had been exposed in 1989 but had never been developed.
Some may say the quality is low but, please be tolerant to the film that was kept for 23 years under unknown conditions after exposing. 23 years for a colour film!! Wonder it has any visible images at all! When I was loading the film into developing tank I felt it was a little glued inside the cassette so I didn't expect any positive results from it.. Here are some scans that went out fine:

I gave the fist 24 frame film 12,5 min in the developer (data sheet recommended 10 minutes) the neg tuned out rather thin:

Pioneers!!! I was one of them once.

For the second film I gave 20 minutes to sit into the developer - got a nice modern looking negative.

I do like the colours on the nex two:

So, there was the retro. Have only scanned 12 frames out of 36 on the second roll + got two more undeveloped rolls in the fridge, so there will be more pics soon.

I used the old long ago expired ORWO chemicals for developing this.

Hi all, following my last post, I tested my three lenses: summilux 50 1.4 v2(e43), canon 50 1.4 (with a leica L to m adapter) and 90mm 2.8 elmarit on my m4. The film used is Arista EDU 200 and I shot it at 100. Developed with Rodinal 1+50, 7 min at 20 degree c. scanned with epson v500. shutter speed from 1000 to 125, handhold. The result is a bit rough but I think it tells the story.
The lux is back focus 4cm. The canon back focus 2cm. The elmarit has a focus shift from f2.8 to f4 but almost perfect at f5.6. The question raised is that should I calibrate the 50 1.4s, especially the lux? or the camera. In the long run I will just use the lux on this m4. I tried the same test on my other camera, a m2 and the result collapeses.

The Los Angeles Times reports that 23-year-old Christina Calderon of Lynwood, California was walking with her friend at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue at 8pm last night when they noticed the three men begging for money with signs laden with obscenities.

After pulling out her cell phone and snapping a photograph of the transients, the men began demanding money in exchange for the photos. When the two women refused to hand over money, they were attacked, and Calderon was stabbed in the torso. She was taken to a local hospital, where she later died of her injuries during surgery.

The place where the attack took place is an area that’s bustling with tourists. Attractions there include Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

http://fstoppers.com/adobe-photoshop...n-just-one-day

"With all the recent discussion about Adobe’s Creative Cloud model and the polarizing opinions surrounding it, one of the topics people have been mentioning is how it will stop the pirating of Photoshop and other Adobe products in the suite. Some felt that many people were just upset with the model because it could no longer be pirated by those who did not pay.

Now that Photoshop Creative Cloud went live just the other day, we didn’t know what to expect. However, news is out that just a day after the release, Photoshop CC has already been pirated and available. Although we do not condone piracy, we’re shocked to see that it was that easy to circumvent the new model."

Do you really think Adobe will/can protect your files on their CC? Adobe, with their new "PS Cloud Model" and attitude, has become a target for hackers -> world wide. So, they increase the security and the next crack takes a week instead of a day.. Not good for Corp. PR.

I have a diminitive OM and Nikon system and I want a fast 50mm. I'm thinking about the Zuiko 50mm f1.2 and Nikon 50mm f1.2 but since many film SLRs are cheap...I'm open to other lenses too. I'm also thinking about the 50mm f1.1 Nokton (for RF)...since that is a RF design and relatively new, does anyone know if it is leaps and bounds better than an SLR lens? I'm still weighing the pros and cons of an SLR or RF for my purpose.

If it matters I plan on using this lens for portraits, but I want subject isolation at a distance. (I'm thinking 8-10 feet or so). I'm happy with the DOF (or lack of) of f2 lenses when up close but I prefer to use larger apertures at further distances.

My budget is roughly $500 and up to $1000 tops but I'd prefer to spend less (who wouldn't?). I'd prefer a 50mm but I may stretch it to 58mm. Any experiences?

Having recently spent ten days in Washington/Oregon on family trip, we wrapped up our vacation at Cannon Beach. The weather was changeable but pleasant, and my two boys (ages 7 and 3) had a fantastic time. Here's a few pics:

Hi,

Recently I started getting back into film, and many thanks to everyone here even though I haven't asked a question yet (thank you search function!). I'll post some of my first attempts once my scanner arrives!

Now I have a few rolls developed and sleeved, and looking into the future I see a nightmare coming! At the moment, I put a bit of paper in a sleeve with dev times and the like to keep a record, but its easy to forget when I shot that roll, it may be a month between shooting and developing.

Does anyone write the date (or anything else) on the film leader before loading it in the camera? If so, what with, and does it survive developing? It'd be nice to have the date permanently on the negs I think.

Cheers

I've been trying to work on my film developing and have recently developed several rolls, including some that have been lying around for a few months in a closet.
Here's one that I wasn't too careful with, but am intrigued by this "sprinkled salt" look on this one.
I already know this is done poorly. I'm just trying to find out what this is from, as a way of gaining a better understanding.

Spot (pun intended) Diagnosis, anyone ?

One of my photographic heroes is the pre-war British photojournalist J Allan Cash. He was one of the early Leica pioneers who made a living travelling the world with his camera.

The model he used at the start of his career was a Leica II with the Summar. I have a tremendous urge to get the same camera and lens to experience photography as he did. Leica IIs are common enough but it seems getting a good scratch and haze-free Summar might be difficult.

Has anyone else done a similar thing by following in the footsteps of another Barnack-wielding hero?
