Do you prefer RFF with a black background or white?
White sucks. Much prefer the black. Easier on the eyes
A little darker than the "Graphite Xpand" with white or off white text... Easier to read for us old farts :p

I use regular theme (dark) on laptop, but changed theme to white bg one on iPhone because it's easier to read when I'm outside.

Black is beautiful. Reminds me of an old DOS program, or better yet an ASCII terminal...
Chris
I'm a vanilla kind of guy - plain white vanilla.
Monitor brightness and contrast is also better affected.

When the website was doing some change over, it was a white background for a short awhile and I thought it was much easier to read. - jim

During the abortive upgrade attempt a month or so ago, it was white for a while -- I found it horrible.

Black ... it's stealthier and I can even tape over the RFF logo if I feel like it so no one knows what forum I'm using! :p

I guess it's not looking so good for white right now. - jim

I hate the black. Whenever I log on, the first thing I do is change it to white. But I would vote for light gray.

I love the black. I didn't even realise you could change it to another color.

On my desktop, I use Graphite with white text. In low power mode on my laptop, I use the white.
I use the white background, too. Much more pleasant and easier to read. Except when some posters use a white font...

I agree with these guys who love the black background; for the Black background with white text rocks....LOVE IT, DON'T GET RID OF IT!
Black for sure. Means I can watch movies on the other screen without glare.. Forums can only be so entertaining. =)

The black background w/ white text is a lot easier to read - my eye doesn't get distracted by the sidebar all the time.

My books have black print against a white background. So long as i can set RFF like, I'm happy.

I voted first, then decided to see what the white screen was like. WHOA! Shouldn't do that so late at night. But I hope you keep the choices, as I haven't tried them all yet, and it's always good to have a choice.
Black for sure, with my old eyes.

Given the wide range of screens I have to look at each week (doing the IT thing for people), it's nice looking at a low-key page on my laptop or desktop. That means RFf's current white-text-on-black (graphite?)-background. 'Nuff said.

Dear Bill,
Ah, but remember International Times. Magenta on green; purple on grey... Completely unreadable, but very trendy.
(I use the word 'remember' loosely, of course).
For RFF, I'm with you. White b/g is MUCH easier to read.
Cheers,
R.
I find the white on black easier for eyes. I also use black bg for my linux shells. Pure white bg would be too much. Than I would go with some sort of light gray (like APUG). But I prefer black.

I like the dark standard skin, it also makes posted photos pop out well.
I think I heard a news around a week ago saying that black webpages could help conserve electricity...
I don't know if it was true but I think black works better for the photos:p
White backgrounds are sooooo 20th century! :)

I use black background at home, much easier on the eyes. I use white background at work to make it blend in with my open projects...to camouflage it somewhat from nosy cow-orkers ;)

Ah, the peril of binary oppositions. I use black at home and white at the office. So my vote is "both."

Rigorously strictly black!

Black is good, late at night, white hurts my eyes.
Black. Definitely. Other sites that use white are both unappealing and hard on the eyes.
White. Can't read for crap on the black background. Originally I didn't realize you could change backgrounds and, because of the default black background, I spent very little time here. When I found I could change it to white, I started reading more of the posts.
Currently we have the option of selecting different "skins". I hope that option will continue with the new software so that everyone can get what they want. From the beginning, I view RFF with the dark grey background and white lettering. In this mode, there is less light beaming at your eyes and I find that less strenuous and less irritating than a bright background.
Do you prefer RFF with a black background or white?
Robert,
If I get mine in white, I'll send it immediately to you for a half matte black repaint ;)

I prefer the black with white type. I've gotten used to it, and it is easier on my eyes. I've also come to accept it as the RFF "look."

The dark background, most definitely. It uses less energy, resulting in less burning of resources.
