View Full Version : Nokton 50mm f/1.5 ASPH: Show us your photos

After doing a little searching, I didn't see a dedicated thread for photos taken with the Voigtlander Nokton 50mm 1.5 ASPH. Regardless, here's one.

I bought this lens a little more than a week back. I was so pleased with the Nokton 35mm 1.2 ASPH that I thought I'd give this lens a try. I prefer a 50mm, so I had little problem coming up with an excuse for a nifty fifty.

I've been using this with my M9 and, so far, no problems focusing. I use a 50/75 Voigtlander Type II LTM to M adapter. The adapter is quite nice. I used a Dremel and created the little recesses for coding. I've coded the adapter as a Leica Summilux 50 pre-ASPH (type II) and think the images are great.

Anyhow, on to a few images. Post yours.

I haven't had the lens long, but I can say that I like what I've done with it so far. Looking forwarding to seeing yours. ;)

sorry to say I sold this lens
but 'looking' back I really Loved IT
Beautiful Glow, Rich Full Plumpness Detail, lovely Blacks...may have to Buy Another :)

I much Prefer ot to the C sonnar which is Grand, Lovely Ink Blacks but too unpredictable for me ,sometimes Too Much Swirley Bokeh
Here's another nokton 1.5" > THANK YOU ANDREIOS , VERY KIND ,Much Appreciated !!

Beautiful shot, very cinematic, Helen!
The local Voigtlander importer had several examples of this lens in stock according to their website - until I rang him that I want one. :( And it seems there are none left here nor in neighbouring Germany.. :(

I really liked this lens, but had too many 50's (is that possible?), so I sold it. Definitely a little gem of a lens. Nicer OOF than some of the Voigtlanders and very sharp.

In what court jurisdiction are you allowed to photograph inside the court room? Is this an actual court in session or a ceremonial event?

They said that as long as bokeh looks good - I can photograph everything. ;)

Ok, Ok, kidding. This was a Citizenship ceremony and photography was allowed.

Yeah, those open sewers do help! This one was from an above ground stack though, so the steam was nice and high up haha, but it made this frame, otherwise, wouldn't have worked.

Just to set the record straight, the steam is produced by Con Edison in generating plants and provides heat, hot water, and cooling to about 2000 of manhattan's buildings including the Empire State, Chrysler, Rockefeller Center, and Grand Central Station. It is environmentally friendly and energy efficient. The Gowanus Canal is another story. ;)

WOW! Just schooled me, I though it was warm human waste meeting with brisk winter air creating these steam clouds. I guess something else will have to account for the smell in NYC.

I kid! :D

Some wonderful b/w on this page. Tipton, I love your final image (and the preceding, very cinematic but still intimate, shot). The Nokton rocks b/w!

Nice! I think that lens (and camera) suits you. How do you like ERA 100?

I'm quite enjoying the combo, but I typically leave the Skopar 35 on the camera more often. How have you been getting along with Godzilla? Heh.

The ERA film is very interesting, I find that it will often have very high contrast if I'm using the Skopar, but it's quite pleasant with the Nokton. Or I just have to be sure to stay out of harsh light ;)

I'm still getting used to focusing the Nokton wide open. I've got the Skopar down (which isn't that difficult) but some of my wide open frames with the Nokton are very clearly focused behind what I intended. Just need more practice I suppose!

I've got plenty more frames to share as I just scanned in 4 rolls of film :)

You should try it out Tom! I really am quite fond of the lens (Not to mention the fact that it bears a striking resemblance to the MP-3's LHSA Summilux ;))

Abram,

That's one of the reasons I invested in one.....(see below)

On my LHSA TTL 0.85 M6 BP - it's the "Poor Man's BP Summilux. :)

I think the two will also make a good shooting pair as well as looking good together......

How have you been getting along with Godzilla? Heh.

I get to combine resistance training with picture taking. :) I used to be able to con my kids into acting as sherpas, but they've smartened up now. Other than that, godzilla makes sharp, gorgeous negatives. Not crazy about changing film in the field -- it really requires a chair and table for the process!
