... and man, is she a chunky beauty. What a lens! What fantastic framelines! Thanks to the member who sold her to me, she is loaded with Portra, which I never have shot before. She already has been on "assignment." :D

Do not forget the Integrated Circuit that controls LIGHTS for the exposure system. That was big 40 years ago.

"That was big 40 years ago."

But not as BIG as that lens! Woo-hoo! :)

Hope it works out well for you Paul! Is that the one with the 45/1.4 lens?

Yes, indeed, it has the 45/1.4. It is some more buster of a lens. I am running some Portra through it; first time use of that film; came as a gift from a member ... :)

I had it with me today while shopping for bathroom renovation stuff when a photo opp arose. I hope I nailed the exposure. Hope to post it next week when I finish the roll and get it developed ...

I have a Lynx 14. I've only used it a few times - I have a strong bias in favor of smaller cameras - but I love some of the images I've gotten out of the camera.

It really makes me wish I could afford or justify a f/1.4 lens on a smaller camera. Until then, the Lynx will be almost permanently be coming out at night, loaded with fast film. :)

Good for you, Brian Legge. This dense assemblage of brass, glass and chrome - with its quiet shutter - is just the thing to dampen hand tremors ...

WOW! That is great. I've been looking at some of my "parts Bin" fixed lens RF's for u4/3 conversion. Once I get through with some lens hacking for the RF's.

Looks impressive, indeed. How it's balanced - not like lens has got rear cap?

I like, I like it!
I just mean if body of digital Pen isn't too small and light for huge lens? Even metal body of original camera is on border - be it smaller and lighter, it would jump out of hands even more than it happens with film Lynx 14 (unfortunately).

Jackslai, I thought you Photoshopped this as a gag. Damn! You really did it! I don't think Dr. Frankenstein could have pulled that one off. Your Flickr set looks great.

Brian,

I "need" such a camera for my next trip to Cairo for night photos.
For some reason, almost each time when I want to type your name here, I first get "Brain" which I then change to "Brian".

That is WICKED, Jackslai! I can't remember if it was here on RFF or Flickr, but recently someone was asking if it would be possible to mount the Yashica lens on another body and everyone said it'd be more trouble than it's worth. Your shots refute this.

Is it me, or do these pictures look especially amazing with this Lynx lens?

The shutter is build in to this lens - it's a leaf shutter. How's that work on this camera?

Brian Sweeney
06-27-2010, 14:12
Looking at the Flickr stream- the shutter mechanism was taken out, the aperture left in.

Raid- The EP2 is nice, I am enjoying mine.

BUT the Lynx 14e, is BEST suited for Paul's hands as it is. And I hope anyone else reading about his hand-tremors, and how this "beast" of a camera gets used, will benefit by it.

Much better in his hands than on my camera shelf. I was proud of this one- found that corroded wire for the meter, got it fixed right up.

Brian,
Tell me more about your EP2. I know nothing about it.

u4/3rds forum...Raid. I'll post some shots there.

I have a long list of RF lens projects before I get to a u4/3rds project.

It is not a problem for me, I always hold the lens in my left hand, (you know this is manual lens).
This lens also bigger and heavier than other lenses, but compare with my Canon SM 50mm 0.95, that is a little bit smaller and lighter.
E-P1 has 12.5 oz and Yashinon DX 45mm F1.4 after I modified has 12.8 oz total 35.3 oz, Yashca Lynx 14 has 30 oz, very close. :p

Thank you for the comment.
I took out the leaf shutter and keep the diaphragm.

Thanks for drilling down on weights!

All in all, this is best DIY stuff I've seen lately. While I'm suspicious about all-digital route, even knowing new lenses are good and very good - such setup is somehow bridging gear I know and like with upcoming future.
