View Full Version : New user from Siberia( Russia)
Hello I from Russia. I like to photograph and very much I love rangefinder cameras. In my collection is zorki 4, Kiev 3, prominent 2, yashica FR1, jupiter 8,9,12, Industar 61 L/D. I am glad that there is a place where it is possible to communicate to fans which love rangefinders. In our country many people shot SLR and digital cameras, and who is not enough of those loves old russian cameras. I love old Russian cameras and with pleasure them I repair, I sell some of them on ebay. I shall be glad with you to communicate. I am sorry for my English.
Welcome Vitgur!
Don't worry about your English - seems to be quite good (and we are an international community here, so nobody is worrying about that, anyway).
Roman
Welcome ! :)
And as Roman said, no problem about your English !

Welcome aboard. Your English is fine.
We also have a "35mm Classified" section here. I am sure that many repaired Russian cameras could find good homes through it. Also a number of forum members like to do "Do-It-Yourself" repairs and would love to have some pointers on repairing Russian cameras. If you take some pictures of a repair job, we would love to see some posted in the repair section.

Vitgur,
Welcome! These fine folks share their experiences and love for RF cameras of all vintage and countries of origin. If you can, share some photos of where you live.
Welcome Vitgur! I guess you are the person to ask if I want to buy Russian cameras! :)

Welcome, Vitgur! One thing I like about this forum is the diversity of the people here, we come from all over the world! And don't worry about your English. Your English is much better than my Russian. :)
How is the weather in Siberia this time of year? We are stuck in the summer swelter here in the NE USA.
Welcome to the group.
Welcome, Vitgur! This is a fine international community of rangefinder fans and many of us love and use Russian rangefinders!

Let me join everyone else in welcoming you here. Could you tell me about the prominent camera. I don't remember ever hearing that name before.

Welcome. Voigtlander Prominent II I am certain is what he means:
http://www.cameraquest.com/voiprom.htm - a top quality leaf shutter, interchangeable lens rangefinder with a hem "unusual" ergonomics. :)
As a retired language (Spanish) teacher, I have to congratulate you on how well you do in English. Considering how different Russian and English are, you do well. I'm totally out of it when it comes to Russian. One camera I ordered came with an instruction book, which is in Russian, and I can only guess what it's trying to say.
By now there must be almost as many Russian cameras in the U. S. as in Russia. I have a pretty decent collection, and I'm not sure I'm through yet.
I understand Siberia is rather cold. Do you have to specially treat the cameras?

My family is Welsh. Mattocks is derived from Madoc. We discovered America, you know.

Henffych, hawddamor Bill Mattocks,
You are quite correct about Prince Madog, it's an intriguing tale and the Mandan connection is difficult to explain any other way. Who knows?

I don't want to upset my American cousins but the first man on the Moon was also Welsh and was known locally as "Morgan the Moon". Unfortunately all documentary evidence was lost during the civil war, ours not yours. Still, who knows?

Hah I would have put my hand to cut that you were writing welsh! Don't worry, the flag of Cymru flies proudly in Prague, by the side of the Breton flag :D
Vitgar hello!! Glad you're here. You know Russian cameras well, so you know we get to adjust and repair from time to time. So we can certainly use your experience and knowledge in this area. Please feel welcome to jump in on any thread.
I too would love to see some pictures of the area around where you live.

I would also like to see pictures from around your home in Siberia. It is an exotic place in my mind. When I was a kid, I would think to myself, 'I need to have a cottage somewhere in Siberia when I grow up'. Now of course, things are different in the mind, but I'd still like to see pictures :). Oh, and by the way, welcome.
