View Full Version : C3 lens question
First of all, just got a couple of C3's and I'm in the process of doing a CLA on both to get things back up to speed and such. Might be a dumb question but, do all these have oil on the aperture blades?? Or is it old grease that migrated on to them? The lenses on both are great and aperture adjust smooth. I think I'll just leave them be unless I hear different. I know it's not normal on any modern lens. This camera is new to me. Any advice would be great! I'll be sure to post pictures once I shoot some film:D
The aperture blades should be assembled dry, but as you said, it doesn't affect the operation, so there is no need to take it apart and clean the oil off. The shutter blades do need to be clean and dry, but they are easy to access by taking the lens off the camera. A lot of people don't realize that the C3 is an interchangable lens rangefinder.
I appreciate some feedback, thanks. Yes the shutter is nice and clean. I think it's best just to leave the aperture blades alone too since the lens glass is so clean. Thanks again.
If you do get the urge to try cleaning the blades, here is a diagram of how it goes back together:
That is useful to have thanks!
