For those who would like to see shots from the still unnamed, unrevealed Leica camera with GPS

The pictures are, for the most part, awful. But much of that can come from not being able to wait until the photographers who have received the test cameras have time to get used to them and take some good pictures. Nor can you enlarge them to get a greater sense of image quality. Is it an unreleased Panasonic rename? Who knows? But the I-Pad can only cause so much excitement before you have to turn to another digital toy... excuse me, digital tool.

I strongly feel that GPS enabled cameras are the next thing the 'big ones' will invest in to get their clientèle digging into their pockets again.

Well, you can't stop technology, but can someone tell me how built-in GPS will help me take better pictures?

GPS is about sharing, not about improving picture quality.

I spent time shooting bungalow parks (commerical assignment) and having GPS locations attached to the pictures proved very valuable, both for cataloging shots at the clients end as for uploading good shots to touristic websites with a GoogleMaps feature incorporated.

Being able to slipstream pictures with a GoogleMaps route is an easy way to provide a Road Trip album to friends and relatives.

I used to do this with a GPS unit attached to a D300, and a high quality Leica compact with GPS would have my interest.

GPS metadata has nothing to do with photographic quality.

I guess not everyone is necessarily driven by a need to 'take better pictures'.

I like to think I know what's best for other people, too.
