View Full Version : Has anyone used Newegg to purchase anything?
I've found some equipment on Newegg and the price is much lower than other places. Seems to good to be true... Has anyone used this site with success or failure? I just don't want to get ripped off.
Thank you.

I've ordered from them quite a bit for computer components and accessories -- they are extremely reputable.

I haven't used them, but the reviews are quite mixed. If it's too cheap to be true, it usually is. Cheap stuff often costs much more than retail.

I've built two entire computer systems and bought a ton of stuff from them. Excellent prices and customer support. just avoid using UPS if your buying OEM harddrives as recently the padding on them has not been very good.

Honestly i rate them up there with amazon and B and H. If you want to get a decent idea of a online seller use reseller ratings

I've used them for at least 7 years and have bought everything imaginable. Been very happy and highly recommend them. Tigerdirect.com is another good source.

I use them all the time.
Very reputable, and have great prices.
As someone else said, do watch out for the UPS shipping. The extra 2 dollars for FEDX is well spent.

12 years ago they were the best bar none. Now they're only one of the best.
If it's too good to be true, it could be a typo, a demo, a return etc.
Nevertheless, read the fine print.
So what is it?
Another happy customer here. And I will be buying again from them.

I've used them many tmies over the past several years. I think I've spent clost to $9k at their store.

Mixed? The first page has nothing but positive reviews except for the first one, which is actually a review of UPS:
I had planned to have it before the Easter long weekend. The UPS tracking had a date of Thursday. I waited all day and checked the tracking which stated"out for delivery". After 9pm it got rescheduled for Monday. Newegg is great, but UPS sucks!
I agree with the prior suggestion, check reseller ratings:
http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Newegg -- 9.74 for Newegg
http://www.resellerratings.com/store/B_H_Photo_Video_Pro_Audio -- 9.71 for B&H

Yes, I`ve used them once for a non-photographic product(Vornado fan).
No problems with the purchase and included the manufacturer`s warranty.
It was on "sale" at a much lower price than other sources. From time to time
I`ve tracked items there on "sale". They usually remain on sale for a couple
days and then it`s gone. YMMV of course. Good luck with whatever decision
you make.

It's a negative scanner. And I want it! At this price it would greatly help me with my presence on the computer. This is about $150 less than I've seen it anywhere else. Could this be right?
I don't actually trust "reviews" being a White Anglo Saxon Protestant myself. The business world is so competitive why wouldn't a business just hire someone to post positive reviews to drown out the negative ones?
Although it may have just been a fluke with a customer service rep, I had a Newegg employee raise their voice on the telephone while accusing me of returning a different item than I had purchased. Six phone calls later I had my money returned on a memory card that was defective on delivery.
I might have spoken to one bad apple, but I will never deal with them again.

It's $5 less than the one being sold here:
http://www.provantage.com/plustek-60-a29-bbm310-c~7PLUS01J.htm
Though that one is back ordered.
In fact, googling for that model, 60-A29-BBM310, doesn't give me very many results at all. I'm not sure where you see them for $150 more.
Have used them for many computer-related purchases and prices and product have always been very good. I'm a satisfied customer.
half of our computers are from parts there, and maybe a quarter of our kitchen too!!

One of the best online shopping sites , if not the best

Ah, the joys of being an atheist (whose ancestors come from Germany and Italy), life is so much easier this way.
There are tons of stories about company reps visiting forums, leaving reviews on amazon for their products and a whole slew of other things. That's why you've got us to set you straight, right?

The prices here are far more so I don't understand why there is such a discrepancy?

I have used them for years, for mostly computer gear. They are super fast to process and ship your order. A lot of their stuff comes out of NJ, so I have it within a couple of days. Never a problem. They have good customer service too.

Simple, your white ango saxon protest self, with your cunning and vast knowledge of why reviews online are all rigged by businesses, didn't bother to pick up on something a little bit of reading comprehension would:
Newegg Model: Plustek OpticFilm 7600i SE
B&H Model: Plustek Technology Inc. OpticFilm 7600i Ai
Do you see the difference there?
Here's the SE version at the manufacturer's website: http://www.plustek.com/product/7600i_se.asp
And here's the Ai version at the manufactuer's website: http://www.plustek.com/product/of7600i_ai.asp
Instead of reading explaining why reviews are all rigged, just use some common sense, you'll quickly be able to figure you that you're comparing apples and oranges.

I'm on Lond Island and I love it when it ships from Jersey. I still don't pay tax on it and I get it in 2 days every time. Sometimes overnight if it gets out quick in the morning.
I used Newegg many times to buy computer accessories and household electronics (memory, internal hard drive, software, coffee maker) and have only positive experiences. I will buy from them again with absolutely no hesitation.

I bought more RAM for this computer...great price (actually a salesboy from Best Buy told me about their site)
The only problem I had later, and I don't think it had anything to do with Newegg, was someone used the same credit card to purchase $1500 worth of stuff from Newegg...the bank took care of it, I didn't have to do anything...

Another big thumbs up for Newegg. I've been ordering from them for years. No problems whatsoever. But I actually order less from them these days because we're both in the same state.

I buy from them all the time & have had no worries.
Their most direct competitor, TigerDirect.com, is another story entirely.
Right, viridari; I've had some bad experiences with TigerDirect, among some good, but I won't order from them any more as they refuse to ship to my PMB mailbox (not a PO Box).
NewEgg I've been very satisfied with over the years, very reliable outfit.

I've bought things off and on for years. I've never had a problem. They're reputable -- and they don't play games with your credit card. I have no problem recommending them.
I've got all sorts of computer parts from them, my geforce gt 220, a western digital caviar, OCZ ram, all sorts of case fans etc.
The most impressive thing about them is their return policy. if something is wrong, or if you just dont' want it anymore it is realy realy easy to send back and get a refund. I ordered a 1tb hitachi from them about a year ago, it ended up being DOA, I sent it back and got another one (a working one), that same week. great service.
If you're skeptical of them, TigerDirect is always a good alternative.
for memory cards. no problems, good prices.

Have used the site at least a dozen times. Flash memory. external hard drive and a variety of other computer components.
Extremely fast shipping. Never one problem for me.
