does the industar-50-2 slr lens have the same lens unit as the rf i-50? curious, because if they are interchangeable, i could get "new" glass for my elderly i-50 ...

I don't know if they're identical, but I would lean toward yes. It looks to me that the outer part is just shorter and the rf cam surface is omitted. I can tell you that the two front elements come out as a unit by unscrewing the outermost of the two slotted rings on the front, mine wasn't even that tight. However, it is hard to help leaving a little dust inside. The rear element I haven't attempted, too far in there.

I'm pretty confident they're the same optically. It ought to be an easy enough job to swap the elements.

I've never examined the SLR lens.

Do you have the Rigid or Collapsible I-50?

rigid, and from the late 1950s. my lense is sharp but i think it would be a lot sharper with unscratched front element. i'm thinking of getting a 50-2 anyhow for my m42 bodies ...

I may be parting some Rigid I-50's out, I have two and have undertaken a shim job for one.

The optical fixture unscrews as a unit, and uses a shim in the focus mount. I do not know if the SLR version uses the same fixture. It would not surprise me.

FWIW, someone posted here a Russian 1970 lens catalog a long time ago. I can't find the thread now, but looked at my download (my Russian is nil but I can recognize the Cyrillic characters).

The Industar-50 f/3.5 is listed in p.79 of this catalog as a single entry for both RF (Zorki, Fed) and SLR (Zenit) cameras, showing the same optics for all of them. The manual shows external dimensions of both collapsible and rigid versions. The specs for the RF and SLR version are identical except for flange-to-film distances (28.8 and 45.2 mm respectively), nominal focal length (53mm and 50mm) and weight (112 g and 126g respectively).

From a quick look at my RF/SLR versions, I can see no difference bar the fact that the RF body is deeper.
