"Dell Buys Magnum Photo Print Archive Valued Over $100 Million"

I don' think this means "Magnum is sold."

the topic reads that Dell buys the archive not the Agency itself. Or am I wrong?

Or rather a part of the archive..

They actually just bought a few press-prints .... ok, really quite a few (umpteen tens of thousands), but not the rights to images, nor the agency itself nor future work etc etc.

For a minimum of five years the archive will be open for research purposes and the prints will be digitised too.

The funds raised by selling the paper archive are intended to give a more flexible project-orientated near-future to the agency, according to the links and info posted earlier today in this forum by Bill Pierce.

They "only" bought the whole archive of the press prints which were used up to the 1990's to sell the photos. They brought it to Texas for making it public to exhibitions and for researchers. No rights or negatives or whatever were sold - prints only.

Fortunately, Magnum can't just be bought. It's worth a bit more than just money, at least to some.

Myself included.

The header on the article says "Dell Buys Magnum Photo Print Archive" not "Dell Buys Magnum". That should be simple enough to work out.
