Wonder if anyone here has tried lighting tight shots with some of the fancy $100-plus 200-lumen (whatever those are) tactical SWAT team flashlights that are being marketed to hunters and vigilantes?
They seem pretty darn bright....
The problem with hot lights is they make everyone squinty.

Yeah but I've been using halogens for years and there are ways around that, just like strobes and other bright lights.
The pictures on this blog-entry: http://fotoclubklik.blogspot.com/2010/01/clubavond-13-januari.html (except the top- and bottom pics) were made with a small 1-AA-powered led-flashlight at iso 100 f/22 10 sec. The flashlight was 1-2 meters from the subject. Using a bigger light and faster sensor should make handhold shooting quite feasible. I used daylight color-balance and didn't need much adjusting.
