The first modern 6x9 rangefinder camera, the Fujica G690, was announced in March 1968 at the Tokyo 9th Camera Show and launched in Japan in December on the same year.

Then came the G690 BL in October 1969.

The GL690, which appeared in November 1973, was the first and only 6x9 camera offering auto-exposure and auto fill-in flash, thanks to the Fujinon AE 1:3.5 100mm lens. The GM670, its 6x7 twin, was launched at the same time. Both were the last interchangeable lens rangefinder medium format cameras ever made by Fuji. After less than ten years, production eventually ceased in November 1978, when Fuji launched its fixed lens GW690, soon to be joined by the wide angle GSW690 in 1980.

Thank you for mentioning this website. Did you compile it? I find this a great idea. Apart from the history aspect it is still an item that is available and considerably traded on ebay. During the past 12 months there were 74 G690 / GL690 cameras or lenses (including finders and lens caps) sold on ebay.

Very interesting site. Just when I thought I was GAS proof for awhile. If their lenses are anything like their binoculars they should be very good.
