Well I was doing my usual browsing of YouTube like a good modern net child should. Anyway I tripped over this Really cool Video.

De Luz ePhotoBook Preview (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHpY7W7TQvc)

After I finished watching it I realized hey I've seen some of this stuff before.

So without anybody knowing it larmarv916 (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/member.php?u=13672) published a book. An e-PhotoBook no less, and a pretty damn good one at that.

De Luz - The Secrets of Sandia Creek (http://books.google.com/books?id=GTT_J2MX8K8C&lpg=PP1&pg=PP1#v=onepage&q=&f=false) This was on Google Books. It has a 24 page preview of the book.

I would have embedded both previews but this forums software does not support that kind of ADVANCED Protocol.
(Advanced Protocol more like Baby Stuff to those of us who really surf the net.)

Take a look. You really have to give this guy credit for going all the way to the finish line. And yet Never bothered to mention it.

Just thought you should know... It's the Most Awesome thing I've seen.

Oh by the way for those of you who are not anywhere near tech savvy those underlined words the light up when you mouse goes over them are links...

I did check it out, but after a few seconds, I realized am glad that I am not after "ADVANCED" protocols..and RFF.com is neither................

that youtube clip does the book a disservice. I checked out the Google book link and found a very nice book without all the garishness of the YT slideshow.

I really must be sure to isolate my reaction to the OP's tone and my delight at the book referenced.

So, thank you ever so much Ghost for your pleasant:rolleyes:heads up about Laurance's book.

Seems there is a missing poll option

No - the thread turned me off from spending time clicking on another Utube link.

Wow...um Okay... Guys, I just found some thing I thought was fun. Guys don't totally lose your cool... I'm not the one who made it..I just found it. Cut me some slack here...

Hey I'm 22 so for me this looked really exciting and fun. If it hadn't caught my attention you never would have known about the book. Would you....

Besides the book is now on my Christmas list to Santa... Yes he's real.. And I won't take any arguing about that...

I'm 57 and I'm with you, landscape detail isn't my cup of tea but it's quit proper to draw attention to it, thanks

Oh wow! A very cool book - I drive right through that area every time I go out to Oceanside. The hills between Temecula and Fallbrook are one of my favorite parts of California.

I also like the use of the 'corners' on the photos.

Thanks Ghosty-kid for the heads up!

No problem. I'm always looking for new cool stuff. I recently got into this ebook stuff. Especially for school it's saved my butt and my back totally thanks me every day.

However I was bummed to find out that the e readers will not allow color photos of any real quality. What is this junk about 16 shades of gray. That won't even display my charcoal works.

I'm actually more of an anime artist. And only recently playing around with photography. I got this great Contax G1 and a 28mm lens.

No biggie I believe in giving credit where credit is due. Can you see stuff in these pictures from the road?

Hi Ghost its
Think the ebook is very interesting.
I'm really glad you put it up for readers attention.
Other links like these are the real strength of this forum and its diverse readers. We don't all have to like everything.
I really go for your avatar too - so different to mine and revealing a totally different world to mine too. Hope you keep contributing threads.

I'd never thought I'd see an anime character banner signature in RFF :D

The video is indeed a bit too long and gimmicky. The book itself may not be bad at all.

Appreciate your kind intention and enthusiasm, Motoko -fan.

Thanks my Avitar is actually a vector of a mangaka drawing/painting by Eiwa (http://www.animepaper.net/gallery/scans/TheMajor/item263321/). I then gave it a pink BG and cropped it according to my need. It's final large size resolution of the vector was 1897w x 2384h px.

Anyway back on topic...People tend to forget that there are so many different subjects out there and that it would be very dull if everyone shot, made, liked, or created the same or similar things. I totally get what you are saying.

Well I am a big fan of Motoko. I'm surprised someone on RFF knows about GITS. You sure made my day.

I thought the images in the book were really good, but then I like those sort of shots. I thought the B&W shots were extremely nice. I was a little surprised that they were made with 35mm film.

I'm 34 and I love GITS. I saw Masamune Shirow sketching some tearsheets of GITS in the early 1990s. Love the look.

And I hope to live long enough to be able to upload myself into the network just as I'm about to die.

Did it occur to anyone that if this guy wanted to call attention to his book on RFF he might have done so himself? Maybe there is a reason he didn't.

Well..I finally get back from the airport tonight, and was rather surprised to find this tempest..about my much belated release of rather modest book!

Only to find so much to do about the "You Tube" Promo. Well for starters..I offered up the opportunity to make the "promo" as a "art project" through a friend of my. So the winners concept was then created as the reward. So I didn't feel like throwing cold water on what had been created by some rather young kids.

All I asked is that it somehow reflect the idea of light. So it is easy to see a gap between the under 21 crowd and the rest of us. Remember it was then voted on by the people at Google and they liked it...now remember I am just along for the ride. So that is why it ended up so explosive..is the best word.

As for my book...it was supposed to have been released in October! But delays kept it from getting out the door on time...to book sellers who still can not seem to get things worked out right.

My target is not really photographers..as most are not landscape people. Also this book is result of actually film and technical tests. The Color shots are HDRI..and the BW film shots were an effort to expand tonal ranges.

All a process to polish my craft. So it just never occurred to me to think of RFF as a market for this book. This is for the general public who can not shot photos or are not able to find this very hidden creek. It also cost me a Zeiss 35mm Biogon lens that fell in 3ft of water! Plus nearly broke a leg.

So will the book do well...who knows. So I have to thank "Ghost in Shell" for bringing it up for discussion. Thanks to everyone who has taken time give feedback on the subject.

But if your not a landscape person, the next book is all old cars! I can hear the rocks hitting the roof now. All the best..Laurance

Oh wow the Author....

Thanks for the compliment and the insight into your book. You really don't get replies form authors that often. But on the other hand you are a avid gallery member.

I must say I'm now a big fan. I can't wait to get my copy from Santa. Question is Santa an RFF member???
