Don't know if anyone remembers, but I had my G2 go wrong on me about two months ago. I was looking for the original post but I guess its dropped off.
Well its all back from Japan, winding unit replaced, some general adjustments, serviced and cleaned. £115 spent and its back to showroom condition. Now I've just got to ween myself off the Mamiya 7ii I'd bought to get me through the downtime.
You bought a Mamiya 7ii to replace your G2 in the interim?!
Good to know you could still get your G2 repaired if things go awry...
Can you post where you sent it to in the event another G owner needs that final option?

Well the Mamiya wasn't really a replacement, but it did give me a reason to justify the outlay. Lovely viewfinder, very very bright although the framelines are taking a little time to get used to.
My Contax was repaired through Alpha Digital Services Ltd, they're in Reading, UK. http://www.alphadigitalservices.co.uk/
They sent it onto Japan for the repair. They appear to have regular repair packages going back and forth all the time. Repair costs are usually in the £50-£150 price bracket and rare for anything to go over £200. It takes about 4-5 weeks unless it gets held up at customs like mine did, and so took nearer six.
