Interested Candidates are required to submit the most updated CV, 3 reference letters and financial offer with subject line: Application for Photographer to:

And financial offer? I wonder do they expect the photographer to pay for the trip, or is that poor English for what does the photographer expect to be paid?

If I were not already employed, that could be fun. Also a chance to brush up on my Vietnamese. Assuming they thought I was qualifed (not likely), and the wife would agree (even less likely). ;-)

That was my impression, and I would think French and English would be helpful.

Deadline is the end of this month, looks very interesting, a great part of the world to photograph. Roger speaks English and French, well, French. ;-)

I lived in Saigon for 7 months 2 years ago......the job sounds interesting, too bad I have a good thing going for me here in Bangkok...I am going to pass it on to a photographer friend that I have in Vietnam....thanks for posting it....

Interesting, I will apply for that. Visited Vietnam last year: beautiful country, friendly people.

I got the note from Zuz who is living in Cambodia another year with her family on a work contract. Interesting part of the world for sure. If I had better legs, I would consider giving a shot, my French is passable, perhaps the photography as well. ;-)

Evidently not as congested as when I was there from 67-72. :D

Even then we could get some real traffic tie-ups. Especially leading into some of the circles. I enjoyed Saigon, but spent most of my time "up-country" in the highlands, and in the central area of Quang Tri and Da Nang. Mostly good people there.

If I owned a digi, I'd apply. I've only been to Saigon twice in 2002 to adopt our son, but it'd be a great reason to get back there and see how things are.

Ah, well, I don't think they'd be happy if I showed up with a Leica, a couple bricks of Plus-X & Tri-X, Diafine & a scanner... ;) Or maybe the Speed Graphic would be better ... :eek:

Actually I think they'd treat you quite nicely if you show up with the speed graphic :P the "bigger is better" thinking is still very dominant there (in relation to camera anyway)

they don't need to know!

if you can turn it around in 24 hours they probably won't care. they might care about access to color though.

Good point :angel: As for color, the Fuji Instant for 4x5 would scan quite well too...

Worst thing is I'd be forced, forced I tell you, to buy a new 90mm & a new 210mm lenses :cool:

Hmmm, the 'financial offer' mentioned is a tender price for the contract, covering all expenses etc until the delivery of the finished work within one month. That definitely rules out anyone without recent local experience, which is probably a good thing considering the aim of the job.

It sounds very hard work indeed. They will still get a lot of very inappropriate applicants, I'll bet.

Of course, if an RFF'er gets awarded the contract we would all love to hear about it i'm sure !
