convert color to B&W for M8

HI...I just recently purchased a used M8 with Capture One Ver 4.1.3 software.
Two questions:
1. will I be able to upgrade to ver 4.8 for free
2. How do you convert color to B&W as I am shooting in DNG format.

Use either the B&W converter in Photoshop or buy NIK Silver Efex, which does a better job and gives very pleasing results.

+1 for Nix Silver Efex.

As widespread as Photoshop is, I never joined ranks. When it came time to look for a B&W converter, I teed up Nix Silver Efex and couldn't be happier. It's really simple to use yet has plenty of complexity for serious post production enthusiasts.

I get good results for colour to b&w via my own actions I developed in PS. They're no brainers imho :)

Don't know the answer to the Capture 1 question as I use Lightroom :)
