View Full Version : Two Grey FSUs
My first attempt in repainting. I used silver Rust-o-leum hammerite after a sandblast and hopefully won't flake after baking the top and baseplate under a 100W halogen bulb. Not brave enough yet to paint the logos and still practicing how to do it.

Looks good, let us know how the paint holds up.

Was the paint, the appliance epoxy?
It's just regular Rustoleum "hammered finish" spray can from Home Depot for $5-6. I've used this to paint transformers on my audio projects and once it dries up [typically 48 hrs] it's tough and not easily scratched.
the zorki looks amazing
Thanks! I love the Zorki 6, I think it's a better made camera than the FED 2 except for the black painted border which is usually nicked and flaked off. I also don't like the nylon cover. But when I reassembled the camera I was reminded of the Rollei 35RF. Maybe it was in my subconcious when I did it.....
The logos are super easy, order a laquer stick from micro tool, rub it across the logo, then wipe off excess. Cant be any easier...............

That is cool. Someday I will transform my Kiev.
je2a3 -- I've recently gotten a couple of FED-2's. I'm trying to get some of those "different color" cameras. By now I think I 'm going back to Zorkis. The RF window on those FEDs nearly takes a microscope to figure out. And both of them are difficult to get the back on/off. I've had no such trouble with any of my Zorkis. The FED-2 may be one of the better FEDs, but if so, it's not saying much.
Very sweet! ... I've got a FED3b I won for 'one' cent and a can of dark charcoal hammertone paint and some body leather that need to get together :) ... my kinda ultra budget Leica M6 LHSA look alike :D
Do you have some closer pics?

Thanks that's a compliment knowing your work which I admire! The Z6 has Aki-asahi Leica S-M leanther while the FED 2 has original vulcanite resprayed flat black. Here's a bigger file. I look forward to seeing your FED 3b!

Like to covering on the Z6. Good tip about respraying the vulcanite flat black. Think I'll try that on my Zaria.
