The last lines are worth the read:
My mantra was “shoot till they say no.” Just to see what would happen. I shot the whole crowd and I got closer and I shot them and they kind of looked at me and I go, “No one said no.” Ended up I was this close and I kept shooting and no one said no. No fear, right? Sometimes you gotta shoot like it could be your last shot.
I know this guy. He's not particularly bright.
Au contraire.
First of all, from the article it's pretty obvious he had a learning disability.
Second, being fearless and "getting the shot" is a kind of smart that's simply different.
Third, "My reward is just the pure pleasure of taking a good picture" is brilliant. Unless you think money is more important than happiness.

I used to hang outside the Filmore on Market cause didnt have $ in those days to get in.
