Don't you just love seeing other "weirdos" on the street using outdated analogue equipment, just like you? Stuff that boggles other people's minds but you can understand and relate?

Above - analogue video girl at Cannabis Liberation demo in Amsterdam. If I didn't have a girlfriend I'd definitely take her out for a beer and she could take her sweet time brainwashing me with her 8mm stories.

(By the way, sorry about the quality, but the above was shot on an expired Ilford FP4+ with Bessa R3A accidentally set to 2000 shutter speed for the entire roll! I thought the roll was wasted, but managed to rescue it through some extreme pushing in Microphen).

Tell me about it! - I usually get some 'anorak'..like Saturday night - while looking for shots at a local fair, walks right up grinning and wanting to know why I'm using an old Nikkor H on a modern DSLR!, and in a roundabout way - starts advising that I need something like the Meyer ( or whatever it was! ) on his old Praktica. As I edged away - after a few minutes of trying to hear his 'pearls of wisdom' above the crowd, he said "you ought to get the correct camera to go with those old lenses!".....lord preserve me from 'enthusiasts' :bang:

I would imagine he was speaking of 'Meyer-Optik Görlitz' lenses. I use mine (M42 versions, anyway) on my Pentax and Sigma dSLR cameras. Hehehehe. Aggro for the purists.

I don't usually see people using 'our' kind of equipment when I go out to take photos. I did run into a fellow RFF'er once at an event, he was sporting a Zeiss Ikon Contessa, as I recall.

and as this post makes me sound like a miserable, unsociable old fart! - I'll add that later in the evening I spent about 30mins. giving tips and advice to a lady with a new Canon DSLR, who was having difficulty capturing the action of the rides! :angel:

Great to see that beautiful Nizo still being used. I had an M801 once, but sold it to a collector about 10 years ago for 100 dutch guilders (less than 45 euros). I will never forgive myself doing that.

Well, if there's anyone else shooting film on the street here in Eugene (photography 101 students with AE-1's excepted), they must be far stealthier than me. :p

Phantomas: I think that shot is pretty neat. It looks like it red filter was used because of the washed out complexions, but I think it works. I once saw a guy at an arts festival that had a Mamiya TLR on his side as a backup to his Nikon D700. He smiled when he saw what I was shooting with.
