You can see from my gallery the types of shots I'm into so need to get a UWA for my M4........

On my DSLR I have been using a 10-20mm on a 1.6 crop sensor........so quite confident in the use of a wide angle.

Now my question, have been looking at the CV 12mm and 15mm, these bring shoe mounted VF's my question how do you focus?? Is it the same as the in camera VF with the split image??

Excuse my ignorance

Yes, the range-finder is in the same window as the view-finder. With a wide angle, scale focus should also be good enough.

the accessory shoe VF does not have a RF focusing image and you cannot focus with an accessory shoe finder.

the lenses generally are not coupled as well (the newer 15mm models are however), scale focusing is very simple regardless, everything from 2m out will be in focus (with the 15mm anway) when at infinity focus, for example.
