I'm curious to know if anyone has tried using the Contax TLA200 flash (from the G-system) with the M7. I'd like to have a very small flash that I can carry around with the Leica that doesn't take up much space in the bag, and the little TLA200 is affordable and cool-looking.

Alternately, what works, is easy to use, and has a low profile?

Bump an old thread, same question.

Hmmm... good question. I'm not about to try it on my M7 ;-)

Nikon flashes tend to work well and the SB-30 is tiny if I'm not mistaken and works in auto and manual modes on the M7.

But will TTL work or does one need the leica flash for that?

You'll need a Leica flash or a Metz with an adapter. I believe the Metz solution is actually the best if you want to use HSS flash (high speed sync).

There is no reason why it should not work on manual - but that is all it will do, as it has no A setting and will not work on TTL, Leica TTL not being Contax TTL compatible in pin layout and protocol.
