I just bought a Summicron 35/2 v4 (#3611xxx), which came with the rectangular plastic 12524 hood. However, I find the push-buttons on this hood to be in the way when I turn the aperture ring. Maybe I will get used to it, but I still wonder if the 12585 hood would work better in this aspect.
Frankly, I'd prefer metal over plastic, too.

Any opinions out there? Does anyone use the 12585 hood on this particular version of the 35/2?

I've only used the original 12524 hood that came with my v4 and never had an issue with the tabs. I can see how they would get in the way if you use thumb & index fingertips to rotate the ring. However, my technique is to use the pad of my left index finger on the focusing tab, then just roll the aperture ring (either direction) using the outside area of the same finger (just use the left finger for both adjustments). I started doing this naturally and if feels quite comfortable.

Hope this helps.
