Hi,

My G2 has developed a greenish oxidation or scum on the lens-body contact surfaces (on the back of the lenses and the lens mount on the camera too). Any suggestions as to how best to clean it off? My camera store guy said I should use a scrub-sponge, but the mere thought scares me.

Baking soda and water? 409? Simple Green....?

cheers,

Chris

Alcohol.
It will evaporate and not leave a residue.

Jack Daniels or Rubbing? just kidding, thanks greyhoundman! Wow I feel much better now.

cheers!

I've seen this on mine, too, and I suspect it's a lubricant rather than any slime or oxidation.

quite common with g lenses, i scrubbed mine off with some lens papers and wee bit of lens cleaner.

I have it on both G bodies and all the lenses. I'm guess it's just spread from swapping lenses. Or maybe it's supposed to be there.

I have always left it alone and in return, it's never done a thing.

Hi, thanks for all advice! I used isopropyl alcohol and cotton balls, and the green stuff is gone. Works nice on the body too.

Cheers,

C.
