"An arm and a leg," "Your First Son," "A Bilge Full of Bullion"...no matter what, the M9 will no doubt be an expensive camera. In all seriousness, though, based on recent pricing strategies and all, how much do you truly believe this new camera will retail for? US, Eurozone, Japan--take your pick.
I have seen on forums it would be around 5500 €.

$6500 Us.....
I'll raise you, Bob ~1k.
I think Leica is taking price into consideration. They kept alot of the M8.2 components. It's got the same buttons and layout. So It uses pieces they already have. The same viewfinder. The same LCD. The same shutter. I'm guessing they did this to keep prices down. Instead of adding $2k to the M8 price tag for a fancy new LCD and faster shutter and other unnecessary marketing features. They're just giving us the M8 with a new full frame sensor that we've all been asking for.
I'm really hoping for something reasonable. Like $5500.
And honestly, the most I would shell out for it is about $6800. But it will likely be about $7500.
And these are all estimates with NYC sales tax included.
When the M8 was first released it sold for $4700. Which is the price I bought mine for. Then they actually increased the price. To $5400 or something like that if I remember correctly. Then when the M8.2 was released, they dropped the M8 to $4000, offered to upgrade the M8 with M8.2 features for $1400 and sold the M8.2 for $6000.
With the M8 and M8.2 disappearing from the product line. I think the M9 won't be priced too much more than the M8.2. But I have a feeling it'll definitely be higher than $6000.
I think this also means that the M8 and M8.2 prices will drop about $500 each until the shelves are cleared of them.

sorry posting twice on the same forum, apologies.
here's a more rational speculation :
in germany : M8.2 = € 4875 [approx]
rumoured price of M9 = € 5500
in USA: m8.2 = $6000 [rounded as on Bhphoto] [not directly Euro converted rate of almost $7000]
hence, the proportionate speculated price of M9 in the USA = $ 6800 = $7000 rounded or icing on the cake/ keep-your-spouse-happy price = $6999.99 [you get your share of 9s too!]

Now BESSA III RF looks very cheap ... :D
I just hope that the price increase is not proportionate to what happened when they released the new Noctilux!
As much as a Mamiya digital med format camera.
What I've heard from a reliable source is around $6995...............

Sounds like it's gonna be a Rich Boy Toy... However, 7000$ is reasonable cauz I usually spent about 1600$ on film every year. So, in like 4 years it pays back...
more than this guy
<---
can afford.
A place that I am going to be passing through on Wednesday will have it to check out, they have the M8.2 at the usual $5995. If it is less that 7K and I like what I see, I will give it a go. More than 7K and I am going to pass.
Since no one has said it... $9999.99 special day special price.
I need to know this pricing information right away. I'm putting my two kids up on E-bay ... but don't know what to charge. This makes me very nervous because I'd like to have a bit left over for a lens. If I knew this was coming out sooner ... I could have had more kids! Very frustrating.

More than the M8 which was already too much, Leica panach or not.
I would be willing to risk 3/4000 USD. It will cost 7000 so it is beyond consideration.
I am very happy with my Nikon D700. It is not Leica, but what the heck. I compared some work from the 85 AFD against the 100 APO. They are close enough and in some ways better for people. Leica APO glass is unkind to people up close. If i have to retouch out Leica details to make the people look good, why use it.

I am going to guess less than the 8.2, simply because the market will be much larger. This is going to be a very hard camera for many to resist.
There were many reasons I did not buy an 8, I can't think of anything other than a ridiculous price, which would keep me from buying an M9.
An M9 with a 35 summicron, would just be too perfect to resist.

It will be priced between $7,500 and $8,000. Since the M8.2 will apparently continue to be produced for a while the M9 can launch in a temporarily premium position in the line.
When the M8 came out, speculation was rampant, many thought it was going to top 6K and it came in at the price I paid for it, $4,795.
Since Leica is dropping the M8 / M8.2 from the lineup immediately, it could very well come out at the same price as the M8.2 which I think would be perfect.
If they did that and the thing does everything you would hope it would do, then they are going to sell a bunch of these things and that is what Leica needs to have happen.
More than anything else, the introduction of the M8 and M8.2 taught Leica a lot about the nasty world of digital. If they nail this in terms performance, quality and price, they will have a home run.

Does 5500 euro w/Vtax = 5500-20% w/o Vtax? I also read that France charges 500 euros more. If true this will bring it in the 6k US range. Can anyone confirm? Thanks.
You are all crazy. The M9 will cost $2200. A bit expensive for electronics, I know, but it is still a Leica and thus the premium price.

That would have made sense, if Leica had not lost their lens mount patents, but they cannot depend on selling any lenses.
