That vulcanite has me worried for starters ;)

And, that must be an SLR, for starters.
Must be a pocketable R10!:p

you need to get a cup of coffee and wait until 9/9/9
the release of the new camera is a few years too late, just think about it, the "M9?" on 9.9.99 :D :)

09.09.09 isn't that bad either
you're absolutely right, but I guess it won't be a M9 :D
Just like the M8 many will go & spend thousands of $$'s to obtain one. Just like the M8 I'm sure many will find something wrong with the camera. & just like the M8 many will post threads complaining about having to send a new camera back to Leica. No doubt Jan.2010 there will be post on "When will we see a ff M10." Buy the Bessa III instead. It takes better photos.;)

Yes, but now we can count on the MX coming out next year! 10.10.10 (or maybe XXX) :)
I will wait for MXP on 11.11.11

Ok, M9 threads have been getting on my nerves but this thread I can stomach, with a giggle too ;-)

Who said Leica is having problems with the manufacturing costs? Nooooooooooooooo..... :p :D

Maybe Leitz is bringing back the red curtain? :p
Tom
Is that a neck strap or a wrist strap wrapped around the body?

hmm, with string, brown paper and Yak butter, Leica takes it's inspiration from its Ukrainian imitators!

Leica are only releasing it to fuel the consumerist misery of RFF dudes anyway, so that they can then complain that it's not all that they had cracked it up to be in the first place. One, or several even, can not make a classic digital camera. A Leica is, after all, a fine mechanical camera, not a computer.
As a side note, my ramerac is currently covered in clingfilm, and I don't think that I would soon find a use for a brown paper bag. Though it does seem as though the chap in the picture, who has obviously never handled a camera in his life prior, probably just received it fresh from the auction site.
....and just like the M8 many of us will be early adopters and greatly enjoy the new tool, quirks and all :)

It is not included with the camera... It is an accessory... Price slated at 650 Euro...

I'm more concerned about the placement of the viewfinder. :p

I'll hold out for the Luigi version, myself.
M9 quality fails to impress
Well, at least the 'Unite D'habitation' in the background is a classic.

Don't mention the war?

Just thought the same... which one is it? The one in Berlin looks a bit different as far as I remember... But I could be wrong. Marseille then?
I would imagine it's Berlin.

I'm convinced it is Berlin.

Ha, ha, freeranger!!!
I like your sense of humor: "unerschwinglich, aber wahr."

Good catch, but is probably not the one in Marseille but the one in Berlin :)

How come nobody's noticed yet that he's looking too close to the middle for a standard VF position? His eye should be higher up (more towards the left of the camera).

What viewfinder? He is looking over the camera for framing.
The new Leica M is an Mda-Digital. Designed to compete with the Bessa-L.
IMO he's not doing anything other than holding the camera near his face for modelling purposes to create the advertising image.
Though it does seem as though the chap in the picture, who has obviously never handled a camera in his life prior, probably just received it fresh from the auction site.
Maybe this pic is of a super-rare, special edition one-off Leica M9 Eco-vulcanite from Photoarsenal, with a modest 35,000.99 $ pricetag?
