Found this Golden Shield at a flea market over the weekend.
This is only the second one I've seen in 30 years of camera-
hunting. It seems to work well and is in beautiful shape.

Never heard of this one Bob. Bit of a looker though in a retro sort of way.

It looks like if you had enough of them, you could build a house (of some sort.) :)

Being serious ( for once! )....not many of those things seemed to make it across the pond! - what was the quality of image like?...don't think I've seen any samples'
Dave.
Apologies....I just found the Argus section!

Hey, it's a relabled Argus. Says right there on the front. Sorry to burst your bubble, but they're pretty common at flea markets, garage sales, etc.. Hope you got it cheap. Use it and enjoy!

Does this one feature the 'guess the shutter speed' dial?

Nice looking sample, better than my early C-3 that's for sure! Right around Argus Day too ;)

Not that common, I am sure they did not make more than a few hundred thousand of this model. :rolleyes:what was the bokeh like - from them, Fred? :D

Yes, it does. Anyone have a translation to actual speeds?

Sorry to burst yours but you are mistaken.

Yes, I know it is a C3 Matchmatic with cosmetic changes but the
Golden Shield is definitely not a common sight.

Perhaps you meant that C3s in general are common or perhaps
you are unfamiliar with Argus collecting and thus unfamiliar with
the "Golden Shield" model as a collectible.

No, but for what little it's worth I can tell you that there is one out there because I found it once. Probably on James Surprenant or the Argus Collector's Group sites somewhere, I'd guess. IIRC the range is between 1/15 and 1/300 - thinking about doubling speeds, and the number of increments, I suspect it runs 15, 30, 60, 125, 300, though I wouldn't rely on my guesswork!.

Wish I' d twigged that they were EV values, instead of Argus's own scale...
