No mention of display lag (not shutter lag), which makes it difficult or impossible to make decisive moment shots, unless you use the brightline finder with the 17mm

While the review is nicely done, the comments are most instructive. I am hopeful that firmware v1.1 will solve some problems. And if we ever get the faster primes that are truly matched to the body, it will be a winner.

I want to see the next camera bodies to emerge from Olympus, as they've said in recent interviews.

I like the E-P1 somewhat, so I'm waiting for the E-P2 or whatever Panasonic comes up with. Because, if they both stink, I can buy a Canon G10 on ebay...

I'm still using my CL and my two digital cameras for now.

As instructive, at least. I especially appreciated the comments from people who have used both the Olympus and Panasonic. And with respect to the latter, and to being instructive, I thought the GH1 review today on Luminous Landscape was very interesting, even if we shouldn't be using the v-word around here.:)

Generally very positive regarding image quality. Two issues noted here and else where, relatively slow AF and a funky style of control functions, menus and the such.

He also seems very less than enthusiastic about the quality if the 17mm. That's disappointing as that was what I was lookin at for this camera.

Yeah, the 17 has not met great reviews, but if you look at images shot with it they seem to look pretty good, and users seem to be pretty satisfied with it.

I have looked at various galleries of images taken with the EP1.
When I looked at the DP review sample pictures I can't help to think that these sample shots just like all the others I found on Flickr look very "cold" "digital" or something like that. Don't know how to discribe it. I like the camera as such but the output is not what fancies me. One could change things with post processing but that can cure any bad picture...

Well, I think it's made to a price point, which is a function of marketing. If Olympus sees enough pros and serious amateurs clamoring for better, we may see high end fast primes.
