I just recieved an email from Zeiss anouncing that they are taking orders for the ZI, for an August delivery.
Read about it at:

Strange... Now they're saying their dealers are accepting orders for one of the special edition of 1200, whereas they were taking reservations themselves some six months ago. Which I did... now I wonder if that had any effect.

Doug, the "reservation" entitled you to receive an e-mail from Hasselblad telling you the ZI can now be ordered. ;)

Doug, the "reservation" entitled you to receive an e-mail from Hasselblad telling you the ZI can now be ordered. ;) Whee, I'm anxiously awaiting my invitation! :D Actually I'm of two minds about this, as I'd prefer black for this camera, so may wait. OTOH the first 1200 is a special edition... or is it a "beta" edition?

Doug, I can forward my e-mail to you if Hasselblad has fallen down on the job. :)
I'm inclined to wait for a black version myself, not only because I prefer black but also 'cuz it should give Cosina & Zeiss time to correct any first-run issues that may show up. I'm holding off on my upgrade to Mac OS X Tiger for much the same reason.

I'm with you in waiting for a black ZI, but why upgrade to Tiger ? :D I'm just waiting for apple do bring an upgrade that actually does something usefull :p
I'm really excited about the viewfinder. What anticipated eye relief.

-Dave-Thanks, Dave, not necessary to forward the email; if I don't receive it then clearly my very early "reservation" didn't get into their system. And my "beta" comment agrees with your "let's wait a bit" approach. :)
I'm holding off on Tiger too, to give time for all applications needing upgrades to have them available. I am looking forward to the file indexing, as I liked that feature of Sherlock in OS9.

Stephan Hi! Tiger is a leap forward actually. I just got it on friday. Spotlight and dashboard are great features among many.
