…. a NEW hexanon RF sitting on the shelf in a used camera shop! No boxes and all, but basically new! Never been used/shot, etc. Warning paper inside the film chamber, etc. I’ve been a fan of the hex series of lenses, owning the 50 and the 28… although the price was a tad high. (around ebay’s pricing of the hex rf) I grabbed it off the shelf.
After playing with it for one night, I don’t think I wanna shoot with my R2/M6 any more… the Hex RF just feels.. right.
Loaded my first roll of Neopan 400 in today with a 35 cron. Bringing her to work.
Just thought I’d share my feelings with other hex rf owners here.
Ok.. now onto the qns. (sorry)
Anyone know of any focus issues with any leica lenses, particularly the 35 cron asph and 50 rigid?
Oh yes… the hexar RF spots a .58 mag vf right?
I loooooove my hexar… (this is bad)

Nice find Trev enjoy the new toy!
I used to have a Hexar RF for a while, nice camera ! I didn't have any focus issues, including the 50/1.0. :)

Right, .58 finder. Not as easy to focus as an M3 (what is?), but a wonderfully bright finder. A beautifully made camera and intuitive to use.

Though allow me to fill in the blanks :D
I was walking down a street in crowded Nakano, Tokyo when i saw....
…. a NEW hexanon RF sitting on the shelf in Fu**** Camera, a used camera shop!
If I would go back to film RF, I would probably pick Hexar and Hexanon 50 Limited!!! I loved that combo a lot, much more than M6+summicron...

Yes Jon….. bad bad Nakano. Did my best to resist, but couldn’t, especially when it was graded AA.
Duff… hush you…
(anybody interested in a .85 ttl? Hehe)

Just to be pedantic the viewfinder is .6x magnification. Yes it is a lovely camera to use and the AE is very accurate. Welcome to the club.

I dont mind your 0.85. But you will have to strip the black chrome off it.
Jon, not to mention, he'd have to go up to the coffee shop upstairs and somehow stumble upon the RF cabinet in the back of the F shop!

hehe too true duff ;)
i sometimes suspect that the "F" shop has a big magnet that especially targets photogs! i get drawn into that shop every time i go to nakano. really dangerous place!

The "magnet" is terribly strong. Its attraction starts from whence i change trains at Shinjuku. Bad i tell you.
Well some "good" news with regards to that stupid camera shop in nakano.
I saw the 50 year anniversary rigid on display there, with boxes and all, minty and everything, for 120k yen. Had no intention of buying it, but what the heck. Just picked it up and mounted it on the hexar i bought to see if it would bring up the 50mm lines.
So, it's AB+ eh, minty on the outside. I opened both caps, peered through the glass. Clear. The chap there gave me his BLUE led, which basically lets you see NOTHING.
Brought out my surefire (defence torchy i used with my m4a1 in the military) And lo and behold, FOG!!! not on the front or rear element, but on careful peering, in 2 elements within!!!! (and it was rated AB+)
So, gave it back to them, told the chap there was fog, he checked it with his blue LED, said no. Lent him my surefire, blinded himself, and yes... there was fog.
Best part, the lens is still on the shelf on sale today! (called)

You carry your own flashlight? haha, too funny, I have one too :D
They used to have better flashlights there. Prolly changed them for the pathetic blue light version 'cause customers like you and me keep spotting fungus, fog, haze etc. ;)

Welcome to the club. I too strayed to a non Leica and have not gone back. I went Nikon and could not be happier. I understand your love, different but very much the same.
Beware where you walk. Random acts of GAS have habits of reoccurring.
