View Full Version : Quick load kit for m2
Does anyone have any leads on where and how to get one or is there a 3rd party supplier to one of these units?

They are difficult to find. Had one at one time, but for me it really didn't speed up loading that much. It really doesn't take long to load an M2 if you do it often enough.
As Pickett said, you might be better advised in buying a spare take-up spool which you keep with a roll already inserted in your pocket, the empty one can be 'reloaded' at a convenient time later.
I tried the quickload but went for the spare spool.

I had one but sold it when I discovered it was easier and more reliable to use the spool. Sometimes one gives up too quickly. You might want to give it a chance.

I think you made the right call, they also jam with modern headers so one must trim the film, and that sort of defeats the object

I picked up a couple of them years ago when Leitz closed them out at $12.50 each, about 1/3 of their original price. I soon went back to the regular spools. It's faster! A few years later I listed the quick load spools, complete with boxes and instructions, on Ebay, and made a humongous profit. Collectors LOVE them.
Stewart,
What do you mean they jam with modern headers? Do you mean that the short strip of narrow width on the leader film has to be cut off?
Another question: I just got a MP and had trouble loading film and had to cut off the narrow part. I found that if the initial leader is not narrow, it did not wind on to the take up spool and so, had to trim it narrow. Does this sound correct or can you load a modern MP using a full width initial leader without having to "narrow"it down?
The headers are a bit wide and jet jammed, do these make it clearer, I don’t use it, it’s no quicker anyway

Hello Stewart,
Thanks for the pictures. I have a few questions. The header does look too wide. For the quick loader to work, by trimming the film, do you mean you make it even thinner?
Is there a way to use the quick loader with a full width leader?
I only used it a few times, in the 70's, it's been in a box for years so I don't know, sorry
I only put it back in because I had lost an ordinary spool, and took those shots at the time.
