Last week I received an LTM to M adapter off ebay (the only ones being sold within the UK) only to find that the thread starts too early on the adapter and the lens doesn’t quite sit upright on the front of the camera. Normally this isn’t much of a bother other than the fact that my main 35mm, an old LTM Summaron, has a notch in it’s collar for the rangefinder focusing lever which doesn’t line up meaning that when the lens barrel retreats within the collar at 1.7m the rangefinder stops focusing.
If anyone uses lenses with focusing rings and no rear collars and who isn’t too worried about the lens sitting completely upright on the camera wants a 35mm adapter please drop me a PM.
If you have a 35mm adapter that lines up correctly that you might not be using any more please also drop me a PM.
Who would have thought that getting all this kit to work together properly would be such hard work!
Robert White (UK) sell CV LTM to M adapters - every one I've had from them have worked fine.
You should buy from CameraQuest.com.

I had very good luck with the two non-Leica adapters I got. But after hearing stories like this I stopped trying to save the cash and only got Leica adapters. It cost a bit more but in the end (when I sold them) was well worth it.

From the website, it appears shipping to the UK is no longer free - and it used to only be on purchases over $400 - lots of LTM >> M adapters :)
Many LTM lenses have a screwmount that can be taken off (typically held on by 4 screws) and repositioned ca. at +10, 0, -10 degrees to overcome this problem. The repositioning is possible because there are three holes close to oneanother on each of the four quarters where the screws can go back in.. I posted a thread a long while back on this. The images are gone, but the principle still holds.. http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14413
I've got both Voigtlander and Leitz M-LTM adapters, and the lenses sit the same in both. So in my experience, changing adapter brands won't make a difference. But all the LTM lenses I have/had as they came out of the box didn't sit upright. Had to reposition them all.

I'll second that. I got my CV adapters locally at a little less $$ than Stephan's price.

Thanks for all the info fellas!! Robert White's voigtlander adapters sound like my best choice. I have a 50mm adapter that fits my Summaron to my M2 in perfect alignment which is why I blame that specific adapter as apposed to the mechanics of the lens it's self.
sadly my Summaron has no such removable LTM section to it's rear and is a very petite and minimalist design.
I'm annoyed to have spent money on the adapter only to find it isn't to my satisfaction but then it didn't cost the earth. I'll chalk this one up to experience and be grateful for all of the excellent thrifty money saving I’ve done thanks to the advice and kindness I’ve witnessed here on RFF.
