Was reading: http://www.apug.org/forums/forum65/62541-new-film-cassettes-vs-old-leica-cassettes-skewed-negatives.html about the Leica.
I was wondering if any of you have experienced this with your Leica?

This is a common issue with screw mount Leicas before serial number 570xxx. The original FILCA cassette is slightly taller than the newer mass produced cassettes. As a result the shorter cassettes will drop slightly (approx 4mm) in the chamber..

Ugh, that sucks. Any easy way to correct this?

I have several pre-570xxx Leicas and don't see where it is an issue since the alignment does not cause a real issue. If however you want perfect alignment you'll need to get the FILCA cassettes and load your own film. Some people will make shims to raise up the cassette..

Starting with the IIIf 570xxx a bar was added to the bottom plate to hold the film in alignment as it came out of the cassette. But you will have to have the crate modified if you want to use this plate on the IIIc or early IIIf..

Does the photo start going into the sprocket holes, and if so, around how much(ie does it go to half the sprocket, more, less, ect)

It's easy to correct. You just put some felt in the latch on the baseplate where it touches the cassette. Cut a little ring. You don't need glue, just press it into place.

Usually no but it can drop to the top edge of the sprocket hole.

Hmm. When I get my IIIa I'll try Melvins way with felt from the film canister.

This problem with the older Leica models has been discussed on
Sanders McNew's " Color with Summar" thread:-

To avoid the appearance of sprocket holes in the film gate of early Leica-screwmounts, just glue a felt ring into the cassetteopener in the bottomplate that will push up the cassette a bit (2-3mm). Check with some useless film into the filmgate (camera at "Z") if there are still any sprocket holes visible.

The round metal piece on the baseplate on which the film cannister lays is steped. If you open the screw that holds it, and put it upside down, it will push the canister a bit without adding friction. __________________
