Just snagged a D3 at a sal-val for 10$

Couple of questions...

1. How do I access the battery?

2. Do these cameras have light seal problems?

3. Who could I send this camera to for a tune up?

4. Where can I get processing for prints?

Thanks so much! I can't wait to shoot half frame! Currently shooting polaroid pack film, 35mm, 4x5 instant and digital.

Try this: www.zuiko.com (http://www.zuiko.com)

for the tune up and light seal replacement.

Processing, you're best to do it yourself. Otherwise you can use a pro lab and have them give you the uncut negs which you can then scan yourself and have the file printed wherever. If you plan using it a lot this might be your least expensive - best quality option.

I once cajoled a local big-box store lab into treating two frames as one. The mask didn't line up properly, etc, etc,... I didn't like the way it all worked out and I don't think they did either. I wont do it that way again. Were I to get back into any format smaller than 24x36, I'd do it myself. At the film speeds I like, it's not likely!

Good luck,

Remove back to get to battery cap. You're better off scanning your own film. As more and more labs disappear, the surviving ones are less likely to do such custom printing work (they would if they knew what was good for them) John. www.zuiko.com

I've found often the cheapest and most normal processing places will do half frame no problem. At the kind of place where you just put a film in an envelope and dropped it off, it was never a problem. More expensive places it was a problem because they didn't know what it was and thought it would be a problem. Pro labs I dare so won't be a problem but you'll pay for it.

That's a VERY nice camera with one of the best lenses ever for half frame. Congratulations!
