I know it's small and mostly meaningless considered whether you've got credentials or not the authorities still hassle you. But I'm still kind of excited about it. My editor congratulated me and welcomed me to the club.

The best part. All of the clips I showed to get the card were taken with an M8. Rangefinders will be taking news photos as long as I'm around.

We may get hassled regardless but sometimes you can still hide behind your press card or thrust it forth, depending. Every so often it will save your job if not, realistically, your skin.

Congratulations

While not the keys to heaven a NYC police press card is quite useful.

Yes. Internationally recognized credentials don't often count for much when you're dealing with provincials who don't realize they're provincial.

Thus my NUJ ticket (National Union of Journalists in the UK -- THE recognized standard, at least in those days) was quite very useful in the countryside; quite useful in town; slightly useful in most major cities; better than nothing in London; useful in most of India, Europe and the USA; and all but worthless in NYC.
