There is an article by Martin Parr (http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2009/apr/04/secret-britain-photography-martin-parr) in The Guardian today.

It's very readable, and makes good sense.

Thanks for the link.

It's funny, but when I first saw Martin Parr's work I didn't really get it and thought it was a load of pointless photos of dustbins and chairs and stuff.

But the more I've seen of him, the more I'm getting to like him, and the more I appreciate the value of the "ordinary". Will future generations want us to leave them a legacy of sunsets and landscapes, or will they want us to show them how we lived?

I can take or leave most (but not all) of Parr's photography, but he is always interesting and perceptive when being interviewed, or when writing.

It's pretty clear that he has a very broad knowledge of photography past and present, and has a definite vision for what he wants to do.

Nice little piece indeed. Did you see his coverage of the arms fair he visited the other week (link to Magnum web presentation below)?

Anyone who clicks on my "Living The Dream" link will know which of his images from the show I wish was mine.
