View Full Version : Agat 18
Just received my Agat and ran a film through it. Surprise number one, no fogging but did get lots of internal reflection..taken in rain, and using a pretty ordinary scanner, I have one shot to post..things can only get better. Pity about the film advance knob-its so stiff.

I have one on the way, and I'm curious to see how it compares with the Agfa Optima-Parat.

The film advance knob on mine was pretty stiff as well. I was always afraid of breaking it off. But I probably shot about 10 rolls with it and nothing happened. Great camera.

My Agat 18 arrived, and it needs some work.
It's a very small camera. The design looks like that funky 1980s' style of using all black with colored buttons. It reminds me a bit of the Rollei A110 with its black body and orange buttons, although in this case, the Agat has a yellow-orange shutter release.
Build quality is average, but the type of plastic that was used is below average. It feels like a low-grade plastic that is prone to cracking. It's too pliable.
Even so, I want to get this into shooting condition and have some fun with it.
More to come at some point in the future ...

I dangled once inside an Agat 18 (http://nelsonfoto.com/v/showthread.php?t=14070). Then I broke the stiff advance mechanism when using the thing. A sad story.
Chopped a roll of 36 exp film in half and took some pix in Melbourne last week. Quite happy with the negs, flare and all, worked out how to reset the advance knob from red to white dot without breaking it :bang: and scanned some negs this afternoon. My scanner is not great but I love this camera! funky, retro, light-weight, but I fear it will not last long given its pretty fragile construction. If you can pick one up for around $20 you are doing ok I think. Now, where is the other half of that roll of film???

Those look good to me. I agree about the price. I paid $18 for mine, and truthfully, I don't think it's worth much more than that.
At the moment, I'm shooting with an Agfa Paramat. I'm about half finished with a roll of 24 (uh, make that 48).
I do wonder, though, what difference there is between the Agat 18 and the 18K. I've looked at pictures and they appear to be identical. Any ideas?
