View Full Version : Durst L1200
Hello,
I was thinking to buy a good 4x5 enlarger.
Am considering Durst L1200.
Any experience of it? I am not sure howadays stores still sell mint or as new stock if they have. But it looks like a difficult find.
Any suggestion? Thanks in advance!

Bump.
I'm not necessarily considering ANY particular enlarger. I have a Beseler Printmaker 35, but I would like an enlarger that can handle 6x9 cm. And I guess while I'm at it, I might as well get something that can handle 4x5 in, in case I get the bug.
What's a good enlarger for 4x5? Would I be wise to get another Beseler, since I might be able to reuse such things as lamps, contrast filters, lens, lensboard, negative carrier, etc?
In fact if you are serious in darkroom, an enlarger is pretty important.
A good mix of lense + lamp + condenser will give a very different "feel" of photo quality.
It is same things that people pay 5-10 times more for a Leica lense than a nikon lense...
I have never used Beseler before. Heard that it is what Ansel Adam used in his masterpiece work.
But I am addicted to Durst for its very good built and quality.
i have a durst m70, and i've got a hankering for an l1200. a de vere or saunders/lpl would be awesome, too. i've used 4x5 beselers and omegas, and they are not in the same league.
