Hello I was wondering if anyone could tell me how a 35mm summilux hood (12589) attaches to the lens, and if it fits a 35mm summicron pre-asph as well. Basically I have a 35mm summicron V3 with a very nice 1504 hood, but I want to use a snug fitting square hood if possible. I know the v4 and asph lenses have the notch for the square hood but is there a screw on square hood or one that is square and snug fitting?

Not really. No screw on square hood that I've ever heard of, and might be difficult to imagine how they'd get that to align consistently anyway. The v4 or ASPH rectangular hood will spin on your v3 lens, unless you were to rig it NOT to spin somehow (tape, glue, etc.). Better to use the original round metal hood IMHO. But the way, the two hoods attach in the same manner (clip-on with two buttons), but the v4/ASPH lenses have a notch as you've mentioned to keep them straight.
