Well I guess someone's got to go first.
My apologies for the technical qualities. My flatbed scanner is far from the best, and I'm in the process of trying to learn to like Agfa APX 400 (I've got 200 feet of the stuff, so I better learn to like it - I'm finding it a wildly unpredictable film, just the opposite of it's 100 ISO cousin).
So, welcome to Canada... starting in the west with Vancouver.
Can someone kindly tell me how to upload the images as thumbnail.
Thanks..

Hi Joe
guess I went a little into the deep end of the pool. I thought that we were going to place shots into a folder rather than at a thread. I have about 60 shots to upload but I'm wondering if we are just going to do a few. If so I'll put up a couple. Most are shots of Toronto that aren't mainstream stuff but still definitely (urban) Toronto, but not suburban Toronto

I haven't had any time for RF shooting of late, but I took some digital images of a tree-planting event that turned out nicely. Okay if I post one or two?

this is my best shot in a long time.
summer in edmonton, on whyte avenue, always brings with it a resurgence of those who would ask for a little spare change.
this gent went a step further than asking and decided on a bit of street theatre to help boost his chances.
i had one shot before he stood up.

Here's what I have so far. A couple of shots from the Oly 35SP and a couple from the IIIa + Elmar 35.
The funny tilted one is a hip shot, but I somehow still think it works.

Alright, I just dropped off a roll this morning, so I'm about half-way there... I have some stuff on b&w that needs processing, but that won't happen until at least Wednesday (I'm playing volleyball for our Corporate Challenge team). I thought we were shooting up to the 28th, and then posting the week after... :o My bad.
A little teaser: I've got a great picture of fearless moderator demonstrating the 'how to break your camera using only a wrist strap' technique he used on his Canon P... ;)
This is a good idea to show pictures from across the country. I'm afraid I don't have any RF pictures to show since I shot almost all slides with my Leica M4-2 (which I sold for a downpayment on a house) and haven't had them scanned. Here is a pumpkin patch in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia, which I shot in 2003 with my Rolleiflex 2.8 E1 and a shot of the Public Gardens in 1979 with my Pentax Spotmatic F (it doesn't look like this since Hurricane Juan). Enjoy.

Hi DDutchison,
really like everything about the shot of the woman thru the arch. The reflection and her looking at the camera is great, it catches a 'voyeuristic' feeling while having great composition. B&W was the only way I could ever see this shot working as well as it has.

the light that you caught for the abandoned house is wonderful. It is so warm it makes the shot feel as if the old place still has life even if no one is living there. I really like the moment here. It's one of those shots we usually say ' if only I had brought my camera'

Hi Trius
I walk by the site for Trump's newest / first in Toronto every morning. Street people sleep on grates to stay warm on the corner where the site is. I liked the contrast and irony of the situation. The title is not mine it is a direct quote from the marketing sign visible in the photo.

Alright, I've managed only four pictures from only one roll, and I just can't hack it anymore. I need to find some money for a used film scanner with some actual dynamic range, unlike this POS flatbed... :bang: And, I need to get some new film canisters; too many light leaks from the last one. :(
OK, some typical day-in-the-life stuff...
1) My gf and I were at the home of some friends, Grenn and Jodie, for a smoked roast. The first picture is "Jo and Jo", my girlfriend Josée looking at her feet and Jodie giving me the "why are you always pointing that damned camera at us?" look. The second picture is Grenn checking out the roast and sausages (almost ready!) smoking ever so beautifully on the barbeque. It took around five hours to smoke. You can't actually see the roast, 'cause it's lost in the shadows, but it's there, honest. Both taken with the CV 21/4.
2) Often, we'll go out to the farm to visit my parents, and just get away from the noise of the city. The third picture is my stepdad assembling a comfy new lawn chair. He's looking over at the resident expert on everything, my Mom. Mom can be found in picture number four, looking back and laughing it up... Both taken with the CV 75/2.5.
I've got more... but if I try to use this scanner any more tonight, I'll just wreck it up and then feel bad!
G'night!

Hi DDutchison,
really like everything about the shot of the woman thru the arch. ...
Thank you Jan. I took about 10 shots of all kinds of people walking/jogging/cycling by. She was the only one who looked at me, which made it my favorite too.
As to my disappointment with the rather grainier APX400, it's made me realize that the super fine-grain 400 films I've gotten used to have lulled me into a kind of laziness where I just crop out the part of the frame I'm interested in. You can't get away with that with APX-400.

Hi DDutchison
Some people have issues with grain, I don't, I like it a lot. Sometimes I wish I could add grain to some shots just to make them look raw, grabbed, immediate and intense. Then again I like the fine grain BW film for non urban stuff. Conclusion .. who knows ;-) Great shot though!

Bob: I am in deep love with Superior. My goal is to have a retirement home somewhere near the mighty lake; Pukaskwa is my favourite park for camping. Bill Mason is my hero, I have a cedarstrip/canvas canoe custom made by Will Ruch of Muskoka. When I depart this earth, dying of old age in my canoe after having taken glorious photos of Superior and the area (with film safely in the hands of those who know how to process and preserve it) is how I want to go.

Here is a photograph of my son (in grey) just as he was puting the ball past the goalie into the net yesturday in the PLAY ON street hockey tournament in Halifax. This is the kind of shot that you could expect with a rangefinder camera with no shutter lag and a quick trigger finger but I left my film cameras behind and used my daughter's fully automatic 4 Megapixel Canon so we could get quick pictures to send to friends. I knew the shutter lagged by about a second so I just anticipated any action and held the trigger down until it decided to shoot. I was extremely lucky to get this split second moment. This tournament is touring seven other Canadian cities as seen at this site: http://www.playon.ca/main.html and I highly recommend going to try out some action shots. It is very organized and you can stand right on the curb next to the games. I would have liked to have had a rangefinder camera with a 75 or 90 mm lens.
Hugh
Here are my submissions: Taken on Mother's Day weekend while my son and I were visiting my parents, on their retired farm in Rural Ontario.
To celebrate Mother's day we went out to a Chinese resturant and coincidentally there was a street party happening in Small Town Ontario.
Hey, don't forget me! Born and raised in St. Lambert Quebec, came to Ottawa for University and haven't left since...since now that I've bought some land near Perth, ON and plan to build and move there...
Picture of my wife on our wedding day (winter solstice, 14 yrs ago), my eldest playing in the backyard, 40 penguins on the front yard, and a busker (note the Canadian flag...).
Sorry, I know that penguins are not at all Canadian, no matter how cold it gets during winter... :-)
Now that I've got my pictures in, when is the deadline? :)
Hugh: Great shot! Now could we just get the NHL to PLAY ON!!!???

All were taken on B&W with either a GSN or a Canonet...the processing has been quick (and lucky in the first case).
The mask is often what visitors come to associate with Vancouver, as they are bombarded with First Nations Immagry; the second is a popular beach with the city in the background; the third is my rugby clubhouse; and the last one is a carpark in Kits (where I had way too slow a film...darn blurry pic!)
