M7 Images

Finally, I've set up a website with some of my stuff on it - the Ice Fest and Paris galleries are all shot with my Leica M7 - nearly all of the Ice Fest pictures with a Nokton 40mm single coated, the Paris images mostly with a 35mm Summicron or 50mm Nokton. The Ice Fest images are scanned with my new coolscan 5000, the rest with my Epson 4990.

Apart from one shot, all the ice fest photos were shot on XP2 and I set the in camera meter to somewhere between 125 and 320 depending on how bright it was and how much snow and ice was in the pictures (i.e. the very sunny shots which were taken at Alpe d'Huez were set at 125). I then almost always shot on automatic. I didn't really have many shots which were off in terms of exposure. Generally, I pointed the rangefinder spot at the people and locked the exposure in at that time by holding the shutter release half in.

Well done Mike! You have to love the M7. I didn't recognize Alpe d"Huez in the winter. Rode my bike up it once.......won't do that again!

Being a passenger in the car going up Alpe d'Huez makes me tired, let alone riding it on a bike! I think I'd like riding the bike down even less though!!!

I just looked at your Paris photos and I must tell you they are fantastic. Great exposures and the scans are superlative.

Thank you, again I have to confess I don't do much at all in the way of adjusting scanner settings - maybe I am just lucky with scanners!

I just look at Ice Fest pictures: excellent. I like the subject and the way you managed to control the technical details (i have an m7, i have a coolscan 5000, I use xp2 but ... I have still a long way to go before to have such a results !).
well done, I'll look at paris pictures tomorrow.

I had a look at both of your galleries, very good work ! From the web-sized images I couldn't tell a difference between the two different scanners used, splendid ! BTW, the Paris series is my favorite, made me want to visit Paris again. :)

I have completely forgotten to mention that everything has been processed (in batch, auto mode naturally!) through Neat Image to reduce the noise and do a little bit of sharpening (which was turned off in the scanner)....
