Hi

It's my 62nd and I just received a gift of that Kev 4a 1979 T.O.E camera from UK .

It's immaculate ! Even the strap seems to have had little use .
The rangefinder is clear and spot on , it's pristine inside .
It's a liitle stiff , but far better than anything non-CLA I have bought -
it seems to get better with every shutter action .[ after all , it is not quite 40 years old - positively junior in Conatx / Kiev terms !

It comes with a foam box with sleeve showing a Zorki 4 K , marked just
Rangefinder , so economies of scale here .

The manual is as new , and the UK passport not filled in .

In all , for a late Kiev , it's probably as good as it gets !!!

I can't think of ANY camera of the late 70s which I could buy in this
virtually , as new condition for the princely sum of £ 50 incl postage .

I know I said that I favour the Kiev 4 and selenium meter , and have a 1951 Kiev II ... but there is no meter to die with my Kiev 4a , and it's
an interesting contrast to the Kiev II .

I must re-learn how to post pics !!

I have gotten an advise that may apply to further soften your new slightly stiff old pristine camera: warm it in a warm room.

Warm doesn't equal to fry, nor oven, nor grill, or cook - just let it be either inside a warm room sensibly close to the warmth source.

Sensibly close doesn't mean 1cm but rather 1 meter. The action should take some hours and the idea is to help the old grease to disolve and splash around.

Cheers,
Ruben

Congrats on the "new" Kiev. But didn't I just see a post that you already have two or three of them? Never mind I am thinking of getting another myself.

Happy Birthday and Good Pictures!
