Anyone interested in joining me in downtown LA for a day of street shooting? I'm talking about the heart of downtown...Grand Central Market, Jewelry District, Flower District, Garment District. I've been down there several times, and there's a whole lot to shoot. The problem is, the area is not a good place to go by yourself with a camera. Call me chicken ****, I love shooting down there but I always feel threatened. So I figure, if I could get atleast one person to shoot with me than we could watch each others back. Anyone interested? Weekends are the best cause that's when all the people come out and shop down there.

Sure, I'd be interested. We should get xscapekey (Russ) in on it too. We live in the same town.
Sundays would be best for me, but I could pull a Saturday too.

I'd love to join the expedition either Sat or Sun. I live in Encino, usually take Metro Red Line from North Hollywood so I don't have to worry about parking downtown.

Hey dlp, I'm in Long Beach, so xscapekey can ride with me unless we do the Blue Line train (which would be far more fun)...
Why not select a date a few weeks from now?

Can I join in? I live in Woodland Hills, taking the train downtown is a great idea.

The area around Union Station is pretty cool, there is that out door market too.
No thanks. I was in L.A. in about 1992 and thought some locals were going to "shoot" me on the Anaheim Freeway:)

xcapekey has a point, I have no idea what it's like on Sundays aside from DP's comment on churches getting out..... Looks like we have five shooters so far (LA, LB, Encino, Woodland Hills?)...the more the merrier....! Great call dphoto...

Santa Monica Pier is always an interesting place, I don't think I have any scheduling issues other than June 18 & 19, I think. I'd better check with the wife/gate keeper.
Looks like RFF will be covering New York and LA in June. Good stuff.
Too far for my lazy arse. Well, it is not really the distance but the traffic. If any of you want to hit up Santa Barbara, let me know. Come on, you know you want to...SBCC and UCSB chicas promenading down State Street.....

I don't think we should worry too much about muggers etc. Just imagine a pack of wild eyed RF shooters , eyes bulging and swiveling about, moving down a city sidewalk, in search of "bokeh" and " the decisive moment". Would give even the most hardened bad guy the creeps.
I am sure an RFF memeber would capture the decisive moment when the mugger socks the other RFF member in the eye and grabs for his camera bag....at least they would have evidence.
I would love to shoot in downtown LA, this must be photographers paradise. I havent been there for a looooong time but East LA really insprired me even back in 70 ies and early 80 ties, actually the whole of the greater LA district did, but at that time it was not as trendy as it is now, but still as dangerous. I hung out quite a lot in Hollywood too, used to live in a motel on Alvarado .... interesting place to be at that time ....
Ok, seveal threads have talked about a meet and shoot in LA. Anyone still up for it? Can't find the others (heck even the one I posted in:)).

I'm still game. Maybe I could turn in pics taken with you RFFers in my photo class for credit! Anyone know any cool events happening soon 'round here?

LA as in Louisiana, or L.A. as in Los Angeles?
In LA? Don't live there, but something is ALWAYS happening. Kinda scary actually. Talk to your teacher though.

I'm still interested. I think Day of The Dead is coming up soon, up on Olivera Street.
I'd be free any weekend after October 1st also.

I'd be down for a good day of shooting. Live in Encino, like to take the Metro Red Line for outings. Downtown? Hollywood?

Hmm. I am a no go on the thurday following the first... the 1st and the last weekend of October... other wise, could work around:)
I would like to go, but I am off to Japan for three months starting Tuesday. Have fun guys!
I'm in Orange County (dana point), would be fun to go either to LA or SD for me (I'd prefer SD).
Interesting point. Ok, I am in San Diego, and would be willing to go to either.
