View Full Version : G1...two questions

1) For those who wear glasses, does the viewfinder have diopter adjustment or is this somehow unnecessary?
2) Has anyone tried 'big' telephotos on this little camera? For example 280mm Telyt and 560 Telyt in R or Viso mounts? (an effective 1120mm is going to get quite close to the wildlife but may well be unmanagable)
Many thanks and apologies if these questions have been asked and answered before.

I can answer the first question - yes, it does have diopter adjustment.

...and very long eye relief. Some of the early reports I read said the eye relief was poor. They must have gotten confused with another camera!

For long telephoto lenses it would have been nice to have some sort of anti shake in the camera. As to Viso lenses, it would require some extension as long as the viso, right?

the panasonic lens, 45-200, is pretty long and has the ois built in to it.
i'm looking forward to using mine on the weekend.

And the diopter adjustment on the G1's EVF is so good that I can set it for the distance precription of my progressive bifocal lenses, permitting me to use the same part of my lenses for viewing the scene directly and through the EVF. They did a great job on this one.

I also have read tests where they considered the manual focus 'poorly implemented' :bang:
Prices are dropping, tempted, so tempted.

Just played with it in a local store...
...one forgets just how good, just how truly excellent , the M viewfinder is!
Though to be honest it is an unfair comparison.
